Top coaching with proven results. There is still space available 250-514-9227 The Racquet Club of Victoria figure skating club is a small, yet well known club, located in Victoria, British Columbia that is known for its long standing history of developing and training Vancouver Island skaters into National and International level competitors, as well as providing them with the means to tour profes

sionally upon retirement. The Racquet club was founded by Sandy Leard back in 1967 and has since thrived to become one of the most well known training facilities for figure skaters on the Island. The club offers programs for all levels and all areas of skating, including Canskate for our tiniest tots ages 18 months and older, to our elite athletes who participate in singles, pairs, and dance. The diversity of ages and levels at the club offers skaters a competitive environment as well as fast progressing skating skills. The Racquet club's coaching staff is a fun, up beat team, who have had a great deal of success in their own skating careers whether representing Canada at International competitions or skating around the world with professional touring companies. They are often seen skating side by side with their skaters, demonstrating skills and performing in the biannual ice shows. It is the strong roots laid by Sandy Leard and the continued commitment to her standards from the clubs current director, Deena Beacom, that the Racquet club has continued to be the success it is known to be.

RCV AGM & Awards Day 2026

Yesterday was such a special day for our RCV family. With so many skaters, parents, and coaches in attendance—and the sunshine with us—it truly felt like a celebration of everything our club stands for.

We’re incredibly proud of our skaters and the very strong results achieved at competitions this season. Those results matter—they reflect the dedication in our community and the strength of our program as we continue advocating to keep our rink and its legacy alive.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, and continues to believe in RCV.

Today is Coach Marleau’s last day with us 💙💛

We’ve truly loved having her as part of our RCV coaching team while she attended UVic. She’s been an incredible coach and such a highlight in our ice shows.

We’re so excited for her as she moves on to professional ice shows—what an amazing next step!

Thank you, Marleau. You will be so missed! ❤️❤️❤️

Brenda quickly became an invaluable leader within our club. She served as Test Chair for four years before taking on the role of Club President, where she has now provided more than 15 years of dedicated leadership—an extraordinary commitment of volunteer service.

Following a distinguished career as a BC Government lawyer, Brenda brings professionalism, integrity, and thoughtful leadership to every decision she makes. She listens carefully, considers all perspectives, and leads with fairness and accountability.

Volunteers like Brenda are truly the backbone of skating clubs like RCV. Having someone serve more than 15 years as president with such consistency and dedication is rare. Her leadership has helped foster the strong, supportive culture that defines our club and creates a positive environment where skaters can grow and succeed.

Brenda also serves as Vice Chair of the Vancouver Island Region Executive, supporting the growth of skating across our region.

Thank you Brenda ❤️❤️❤️

We need to keep the Ian Stewart Complex open until a new rink is built.

This isn’t just a facility — it’s a legacy.

For decades, the Racquet Club has been a cornerstone of sport in our community, developing athletes across tennis, figure skating, hockey, curling, badminton, squash, and racquetball. Generations have trained here. Friendships were built here. Champions were made here.

You don’t replace something like that overnight.

Closing the doors before a new facility exists leaves a huge gap — for athletes, families, coaches, and our entire community. Ice time, training space, and opportunities for youth will be lost.

We are not asking to stop progress — we are asking for a bridge.

Keep Ian Stewart open until a new rink is ready. Protect the programs, the athletes, and the legacy that has taken decades to build.

Let’s stand together to support sport, community, and opportunity for the next generation.
