IAF IAF works to create a thriving BC agriculture via the effective delivery of programs

The Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC was established in 1996 as an industry-led, not-for-profit organization. We represent a significant component of the agriculture and agri-food community, from farm supply to primary production to post-farm gate and food processing. Our focus is to work with clients, industry and funding partners and invest in projects that have the potential to transform ideas into solutions.

This time of year, things just start to add up. The work doesn’t slow
down, days get longer, and people get more tired. ⌛

You start to see it in small ways. A few more mistakes, things taking a
bit longer, communication getting shorter.

We hear this a lot from BC agriculture employers this time of year.
If you need support, you can reach out or explore resources at aghr.ca. 🤝

Support for food security in BC continues to grow through investments that strengthen farms, food processing, infrastructure, and emergency preparedness across the province.

As new projects continue to roll out, Food Security Initiative investments are helping build a stronger and more resilient food system for producers, processors, and communities throughout BC.

We gratefully acknowledge that financial support for the Food Security Initiative has been provided by the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. It is delivered by IAF.

💧 Advancing On‑Farm Water Security in Delta 💧

With support from the Government of BC through the Agriculture Water Program (AWP), Houweling Nurseries Ltd has successfully built a lined water storage dugout to capture rainwater for peak summer use.

The project is expected to cut potable water use by more than 50%, saving up to 100,000 m³ of municipal water each year while strengthening long‑term resilience for greenhouse production.

“Irrigation is important in this region because it’s like a desert. Without water we don’t have farms.”

After losing access to their previous irrigation system, producers in the North Thompson region came together to form the Noble Creek Irrigation Society and build a shared solution for the future.

With support through the Agricultural Water Infrastructure Program, the new system is helping strengthen water security and support long-term agricultural production in the region.

We gratefully acknowledge that the financial support for the Agricultural Water Infrastructure Program has been provided by the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. It is delivered by IAF.

💧 Strengthening Water Security for Edgewater Farms 💧

With support from the Government of BC through the Agricultural Water Infrastructure (AWI) and Agriculture Water Program (AWP), the Vermilion Irrigation District has successfully upgraded and planned for the future of its historic irrigation system.

AWI funding supported critical dam repairs and an engineering study, while AWP funding helped implement infrastructure upgrades that improved water flow, reliability, and on-farm productivity, benefiting more than 90 farms and over 500 hectares of agricultural land.

A great example of how targeted investments can protect water resources, support climate resilience, and strengthen local food production. 🌱
