Extreme Weather: Plans & Designs Application Remains Open!

Applications for the FireSmart™ BC Farm & Ranch Assessment have been extended and will now accept applications until October 31, 2026. This extension provides additional time for eligible farmers and ranchers to receive funding to assess wildfire risks on their operations and identify opportunities to improve resilience.

Applications for Planning & Design of Fill Pad for Farm Buildings will close today, as originally announced. Applications for this activity must be submitted by 4:00 pm PT to be considered for funding.

Producers interested in either activity are encouraged to review program requirements and submit applications before the applicable deadlines.

Modernizing aging infrastructure is critical to maintaining reliable water access for agriculture and communities across British Columbia.

This video explores why the Beaver Lake Dam in Lake Country, BC required replacement after the aging concrete structure could no longer receive engineering sign-offs.

With support through the Agricultural Water Infrastructure Program, the project is helping improve long-term infrastructure reliability, strengthen climate resilience, and support continued agricultural production in the region.

Our thoughts are with the communities, producers, first responders, and everyone affected by wildfires across BC. These events are a powerful reminder of the importance of resilient communities, strong agricultural systems, and reliable water infrastructure, especially as we work together to prepare for a changing climate.
