A proposed settlement has been reached in the B.C. Birth Alerts class action.

Individuals who were the subject of a Birth Alert in British Columbia between May 31, 1980 and May 8, 2026 may be eligible for compensation if the settlement is approved by the Court.

If approved, the proposed settlement will provide a minimum of $2,000 to eligible class members who submit a claim. Indigenous class members may be eligible for additional compensation. The amount received will depend on the number of eligible claims submitted.

Many people may not know that a Birth Alert was issued about them. Please help spread the word by sharing this post with your networks, colleagues, communities, and anyone who may have been affected.

A settlement approval hearing is scheduled for December 4, 2026.

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and recognize the ongoing importance of advocacy, inclusion, and belonging 🏳️‍🌈

Many Indigenous communities have long recognized and honoured people who today may identify as Two-Spirit. While teachings and roles vary among Nations, Two-Spirit people have often held important cultural, spiritual, and community responsibilities.

Join us in celebrating the contributions of Two-Spirit and LGBTQI+ people and reflecting on the importance of creating spaces where all people feel seen, respected, and connected.

Happy Pride and Indigenous History Month!🧡🌈
