Congratulations to BCAAFC President Annette Morgan (Nox Stikine) and Executive Director of Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre on her re-election to the Village of Telkwa Council, and to BCAAFC Board Director and Quesnel Tillicum Society Executive Director Tony Goulet on his re-election to Quesnel City Council!

Both Annette and Tony have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community leadership, advocacy, and public service. Through their involvement in the BC Friendship Centre Movement and local government, they continue to bring valuable perspectives and experience to the communities they serve.

We celebrate their continued contributions to the Friendship Centre Movement and wish them both success in their new terms on council.

The Provincial Indigenous Youth Council (PIYC) is looking for new members!

Indigenous youth ages 14–26 from across B.C. can apply to join PIYC to share their perspectives, connect with and support other youth, and help influence decisions that impact Indigenous young people.

From providing a youth voice within BCAAFC to co-hosting Gathering Our Voices, PIYC members have opportunities to build connections, develop leadership skills, and make a difference.

Today we honour the Residential School Survivors who were forcibly taken from their families and communities, as well as those who never returned home. We extend our strength and solidarity to Survivors, their families, and all those who continue to carry the harmful impacts of the Residential School system every day. 🧡

The BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) is pleased to announce that its President, Annette Morgan (Nox Stikine), has successfully concluded her participation as a formal Intervener in the British Columbia Utilities Commission’s (BCUC) review of Pacific Northern Gas Ltd.’s 2025–2027 Revenue Requirements Application.

"Participating as an Intervener in a BCUC proceeding is a rigorous process that requires a deep dive into the technical and financial evidence submitted by the utility," said Morgan. "My goal throughout this proceeding was to ensure that the proposed rate adjustments were thoroughly scrutinized and that the final decision prioritized a balanced approach that protects the interests of Indigenous communities and all ratepayers."

Applications for the Post-Secondary Student Support Program are open for the Winter 2027 semester. Apply by November 1, 2026! 📚💰

Students must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

✅Be a First Nations student registered under the Indian Act who does not currently hold membership with a First Nation/Band and therefore are not eligible to apply for post-secondary funding through a Band.

Please note: This funding is specifically for students who do not have Band membership. Students who are Band members are not eligible, including in cases where their Band has already fully allocated or expended its available post-secondary funding.

Eligible students may be affiliated or connected with a BC First Nation/Band without holding Band membership, or they may be registered on the BC General List.
