Just because today is October 1st does not mean you can just put away your orange shirt until next year.

Reconciliation needs to continue year round for "relations" between settlers and Indigenous Peoples to continue.

Do not let your shirt be a token symbol of your support for our Indigenous communities.

As you see business, politicians, communities move on from their once a year symbol of support, think of how you will continue to adopt Anti-Racist practices into your life, work, communities. Disrupt patriarchy and decentre whiteness. With Indigenous specific racism on the rise in BC and Canada, find a way to call out racism and put the discomfort we feel back on those perpetuating harm, make Racist people uncomfortable with their decisions, their words, their actions, their beliefs.

Yesterday I avoided Facebook because I knew my reed would be filled with comments of ignorance and hatred.

To our Indigenous community, take care of yourself. you are loved and valued. To our Allies, do not become complacent, show us you stand beside us.
