🥕🥒🥬 It is gardening season at Threshold!

We were so excited to have FED Urban Agriculture at our Threshold House this week planting cucumber, onions, and lettuce with our youth!

As part of our programming at Threshold, our case workers teach valuable life skills like cooking and environmental stewardship. FED is always eager to partner with local organizations to get people excited about growing their own food and we were grateful for their expertise so we can start enjoying fresh veggies from the garden for dinner!

And over in the backyard garden at Holly House, the rosemary and rhubarb were thriving!

Happy Pride Month from Threshold Housing! 🤍🩷🩵🤎🖤❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Our Threshold logo uses a rainbow palette to highlight our inclusive homes and services and the over-representation of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth we serve. In 2025/2026, 39% of our youth identified as 2SLGBTQIA+, and 25% of our youth identified as gender diverse.

Research from the last national PiT Count shows the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is overrepresented: 14% are unhoused, compared to 4.4% of the total Canadian population. And the proportion was even higher among youth at 25%.

Thank you to everyone who supports Threshold Housing and ensures we can be there for our young 2SLGTBQIA+ and gender-diverse community. Everyone deserves a safe home and a bright future.

This Pride month we are celebrating the strength and resilience of youth who join us at Threshold, and the dedicated, caring staff who join our youth every day, cooking, cleaning, playing games, joining them for appointments, connecting out in the community, and everywhere in between.

☀️ Our youth and staff have been loving this beautiful sunny weather! This month our Indigenous Wellness Advocates hosted an Indigi-Led barbecue at Beaver Lake, with foods inspired by traditional Indigenous ingredients. We enjoyed bannock, Rez dogs, burgers, salmon, venison, and more!

Our Indigenous Wellness programming provides Indigenous youth with support for learning about themselves and their culture. Reconnecting our youth to Indigenous community is crucial to their long-term success. Up next we are excited for our ribbon vest sewing workshops with the Aunty Collective, an extension of our ribbon skirt workshop in the spring!

We were grateful for the opportunity to host Minister Christine Boyle, Housing and Municipal Affairs, at our Supportive Recovery Program home today. It was a great opportunity to highlight the unique needs of youth within the context of the housing continuum, and to highlight areas of investment to help address critical gaps young people face in our system.

Safe housing is the essential first step in helping youth stabilize and heal, and it’s the foundation from which bright futures are launched. When youth have the opportunity to stabilize in housing, build life skills, and connect to positive relationships and community, they are able to create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. 🩵

It was a pleasure to have Minister Jodie Wickens and Minister Grace Lore MLA Victoria-Beacon Hill visit our Supportive Recovery Program last week and hear directly about the work happening every day to prevent and end youth homelessness in Victoria.

When youth are met with safety, dignity, and unwavering support, real change is possible. Their visit was an opportunity to share how our housing helps young people move from surviving to thriving - and how early, compassionate intervention can prevent youth homelessness before it becomes a lifelong cycle.

Together, we can make youth homelessness in Victoria rare, brief, and non‑recurring 🦋
