Across Canada, women and q***r people carry stories, experiences and knowledge that go unheard. Despite the systemic and inter-personal violence they navigate, grief and loss they carry, and responsibilities they hold, women are organizers, advocates, caregivers, knowledge keepers, and frontline defenders of communities, cultures, land and rights. They are working everyday to create safer, more just communities. 💛

❗We are creating a national virtual circle where emerging and established community leaders can connect, learn from one another, and strengthen their collective power. This space belongs to women, q***r folks, and their fiercest allies - people who are supporting their communities, challenging injustice, and working towards a different future for the generations that follow.

❗BUT FIRST we want to hear from our beloved women, femmes and q***r folks – what is a lesson you think is important to share with others?

Maybe it’s advice about navigating the systems that weren’t built for us.
Maybe it’s advice you wish someone had share with you sooner.
Maybe it’s about balancing family, work, community and everything in between.
Or finding the strength to keep showing up.
There are no right or wrong answers.
We're asking YOU to share their experiences, perspectives, and hopes for the future because meaningful change begins when we are willing to listen.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Elders, and Maskwacisahk,
The Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission (MESC) is pleased to welcome you to our Annual Pow Wow on Friday, June 19, 2026.

This special event is a time for our students and families to come together to celebrate being Nehiyaw. The Pow Wow provides an opportunity for our students to connect with their identity, honor our teachings, and share in the beauty of song, dance, and spirit.

Throughout the day, students can participate in any of the cultural activities such as cultural games and a sensory tipi. We encourage all families and Maskwacisahk to attend as we will be honouring our Grade 12 Graduates and Retirees.

Have you seen For Our Women, For Our Future yet? We are SO proud of these amazing young men and boys who spent 10 weeks connecting to themselves, one another, Elders, culture and the land. 💙

What stood out most was the strength in vulnerability. These young men created space for one another to feel, to cry, to share their stories, and to heal. Over time, they formed a bond that is truly unbreakable—a brotherhood, a wolf pack of young warriors walking a better path together.✨

Preventing gender-based violence starts with investing in men and boys.

Are you an Indigenous Youth with a passion for art, storytelling, or creative writing? Your work could be featured in the next issue of our Youth Leaders !

Theme: Fire and Ice 🔥❄️
Across Turtle Island, Indigenous communities are witnessing climate change in real time. This issue invites Indigenous Youth to share artwork, writing, poetry, photography, and reflections on what these changes mean for our communities, lands, waters, and futures.

Priority will be given to submissions from Indigenous Youth as part of ICA’s ongoing commitment to uplifting Indigenous voices, storytelling, and sovereignty in climate action.
Youth whose submissions are not selected for this issue may be contacted for future editions.
