Caroline Dawson Library: A Passive House First

Opening in 2030, Montréal’s new Caroline Dawson Library is planned to become the first Passive House certified library in Canada. Designed as a “garden of ideas,” the project will connect library spaces with the neighbouring Parc Le Prévost, bringing together community, culture and sustainability. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028.

The International Passive House Open Days 2026 are just around the corner, and we can hardly wait!

What if the hot water we use every day could help heat our buildings?

North Vancouver’s new Urban Heat Recovery Centre will use electric heat pumps to recover energy from wastewater and distribute it through Lonsdale’s community energy network. The six-megawatt facility is expected to reduce system emissions by approximately 40%, demonstrating the potential of waste heat recovery to support lower-carbon buildings.
