Prism Wellness Prism Wellness is a program dedicated to the advancement of sexual health, harm reduction, and health

Prism Wellness' primary focus is to reduce HIV, hepatitis C, STIs and stigma on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands amongst gender and sexual minorities. By promoting 2SLGBTQIAP+ health in these, our, communities, we are accomplishing that goal. We encourage our community to make informed choices about their own sexual and drug use practices. It is paired with the cultivation of attitudes and behaviors that support safe, strong and stable foundations for overall health and well being. Born May 22nd, 1930, and assassinated by a political opponent in 1978, Harvey Milk was the first openly gay politician in America, and was instrumental in civil rights movements in the US. Shortly before his death, he passed a 2SLGBTQIA+ rights bill to outlaw s3xual orientation-based discrimination, despite active d3ath threats and public opposition.

May 19th was also National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. According to AIDSVu, this is "a day to shed light on the HIV epidemic among Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Communities. In 2021, approximately 2% (814) of all new HIV diagnoses were among the Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Communities. Most of these new diagnoses are among Asian men."
