We all share one absolute certainty in life - someday, each of us will die.
I'm sure you believe, just like I do, that everyone deserves peaceful and dignified end-of-life care.
Hospice care holds a special place in my heart because both my parents spent their final days in a hospice in Kelowna. It was set in a lovely garden where everyone had big, comfortable rooms.
As Board Chair of Victoria Hospice, this memory guides my vision for what our hospice could become with you by our side.
You see, despite our incredible staff and volunteers who provide exceptional care, we're housed in what was originally the maternity ward in the oldest part of the hospital. Ironically, we occasionally care for people who were born in the very same rooms where they now come to die.
That's why one of our primary goals is to find Victoria Hospice a new home - a place that offers peaceful, dignified surroundings for patients and their families during one of life's most vulnerable moments.
And here's where you come in.
Right now, almost 50% of the funding for our programs and services come from community donations and legacy giving. For example, our bereavement and counselling services are 100% funded by donor dollars. As government funding continues to face major cuts, building long-term financial stability has never been more important.
That's just one of the reasons why gifts in Wills are so impactful.
Every gift, regardless of size, helps build a foundation of stable funding that we can rely on when government support falls short. It allows us to plan with confidence, knowing we'll be able to maintain and enhance our services for generations to come.
