Announcements week of May 2 2022
Student Registrations for the Fall are now open. Returning students, please pick up a registration package from the
office and bring home to have your parent or guardian sign. "
You are invited to 6 weeks of introductory beading with Tara. In May we will learn various earring techniques such as brick
stitch, fringe style and hoops. In June we will learn how to use the bead loom and flat stitch techniques. Sessions will be on
Wednesdays from 3 - 4pm in the kitchen on May 4, May 11, May 18th and June 1, June 8th, and June 15th. Drop ins welcome.
Tara is a member of the Sayisi Dene First Nation in Tadoule Lake, Manitoba. She was born and raised on Sto:lo territories
and she now lives on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen Peoples. Tara learned to bead in 1998 and has been
practicing new and traditional techniques ever since. Tara began her walk on the Red Road in 2012 after the unexpected
loss of her mother. Beading has been a particularly healing practice and it continues to be a passionate pursuit of Tara's.
She loves teaching introductory beading to willing participants and facilitating smudge ceremonies, medicine circles, and
moon lodges.
Tara will also be facilitating a smudge ceremony for all interested students and staff from 9:30am - 10:00am Wednesday May
18th and June 8th . Location: Outdoors, weather permitting.
In addition to beading, On Wednesday May 18th at 3:00 we will be offering a teaching about the To***co Offering Protocol.

Archery this Thursday for Active Living!!!!!! It's a later field trip - we will leave here at 1:30 and be back by 3:30. Come shoot arrows at things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our Womxan are Scared Walk – Surrounded by Cedar Child & Family Services (SCCFS)
SCCFS, in partnership with the Songhees First Nation, the Victoria Native Friendship Centre, South Island Indigenous Authority,
Indigenous Perspectives Society, Hulitan Family & Community Services Society, and Island Métis Family & Community Services Society will host the first “Our Womxn Are Sacred” walk. In recognition of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the intention of this walk is to honour the sacredness of women in Indigenous communities.

Join Artemis alumni, Nadia, for a talk on Tuesday afternoon at 2PM about her experience making the transition from Artemis to Camosun! Nadia will be sharing her tips, tricks, and advice for students thinking about Camosun next year or in the future.
Claire and Kayci are running lots of tutorials this week! Monday after lunch Claire is leading an Art workshop, Tuesday Socials tutorial is with Kayci, Wednesday after lunch Claire will be running an English tutorial and on Thursday, Claire and Kayci will join forces to offer a Socials, English, AND Art lesson! Join in to earn credit!
