Curious about the beautiful trees in the Spirit Garden?
Join knowledgeable park staff for a guided tree tour on Tuesday, May 19 from 12–1pm and learn more about the unique trees that shape this special neighbourhood space. It is a hidden 0.12-hectare community green space located in the North Jubilee neighbourhood between Kings Road and Newton Street.

We’ve been hard at work in the Community Spirit Garden and put up some new hand-painted signs.

The Spirit Garden in Victoria, BC, is a walk-through green space located between 1782 Kings Road and 1769 Newton Street. Situated just west of Richmond Road, this community-created garden serves as a peaceful pathway in the North Jubilee neighbourhood.

This garden is a shared space built by neighbours, volunteers, and people who love seeing things grow. If you’ve been curious about getting involved, we’d love to have you join us.

Get Growing Victoria! Calling all green thumbs! Spring soil-building materials distribution days are coming soon. Free leaf mulch, compost and woodchips will be available at locations across the City. Please bring your own shovel and containers. Soil-building materials are produced at the City’s park maintenance yard using leaves, branches and other plant material collected during maintenance. These materials undergo annual testing prior to distribution ensure their safety for use in food gardens.

Jubilee dates if Friday, March 20th at 2pm at Bank Street School.

Are you (or someone you know) passionate about creating positive change in our community? The Local Champion Program supports dedicated individuals who want to drive initiatives, strengthen resilience, and spark meaningful connection right where we live.
Local Champions are catalysts — people who leverage local knowledge, relationships, and influence to help great ideas take root and thrive.
I’m Andrea, your Neighbourhood Coordinator, and I’d love to chat if you’re curious about applying. Our board member Shona is an alumna of the program and can share firsthand insight into the experience!

Get Growing, Victoria! | City of Victoria:

The Get Growing, Victoria! program supports communities in need through partnerships with non-profit organizations. This City of Victoria program helps distribute seedlings and soil-building materials to residents who face barriers to growing their own food.

2026 Growing Season dates:

o Soil distribution – March 20
o Seedlings – May 23
o Summer seeding – August 15
o Fall soil/compost – September 25
