Fernwood NRG

Fernwood NRG Fernwood NH is a non-profit organization run by and for the residents of Fernwood, a neighbourhood in Victoria, BC.

Since 1979, our non-profit charitable organization has provided child care, family, seniors, and community programs, recreation activities, and food security initiatives like the Good Food Box at the Fernwood Community Centre. We host Fernwood’s annual neighbourhood celebration - FernFest, and support placemaking and community development initiatives in Fernwood. We organize the Gift of Good Food

fundraiser annually which supports families in need across Greater Victoria with fresh fruit and vegetables. We publish the Village Vibe, Fernwood’s neighbourhood newspaper and share the voices of our community. We operate ten, three-bedroom units of affordable housing for families in the Cornerstone Apartments and Park Place Apartments.

We're doing things a little differently next week! Our regular cook is away but we are eager to share a meal with community again. So, we're inviting you to participate in a Community Potluck! 🌞

If you have the capacity, we invite you to bring a dish to share with your neighbours. We'll provide a few basics like salads and bread rolls. Our friends at are even donating a few pies! 🍕

After our potluck, we will be screening 🌈 Pride - a movie based on a true story about a group of LGBTQ+ activists who stood in solidarity with the British miners' strike of 1984.

Harvest Haul! 🥒🫛🌻

Our front gardens are in full bloom. Today, we harvested a load of bush beans, a cucumber, and a massive zucchini! These goodies made their way to our kitchen and will be used to cook up meals for our programs and child care.

Something's Wrong in Fernwood is a free, all-ages art hunt happening Saturday, July 11th from 1PM to 4 PM.

This spring, a group of Fernwood kids designed seven surreal art installations, or 'anomalies,' that will be hidden around the neighbourhood, from a celebrity potato to a fountain that claims to be from Magic Bunny Planet. On July 11th, you can pick up a field map at 1240 Gladstone Ave and set out to track them all down.

It's free, a little strange, and entirely the kids' invention. Come see what they made.
