Fernwood NRG

Fernwood NRG Fernwood NH is a non-profit organization run by and for the residents of Fernwood, a neighbourhood in Victoria, BC.

Since 1979, our non-profit charitable organization has provided child care, family, seniors, and community programs, recreation activities, and food security initiatives like the Good Food Box at the Fernwood Community Centre. We host Fernwood’s annual neighbourhood celebration - FernFest, and support placemaking and community development initiatives in Fernwood. We organize the Gift of Good Food

fundraiser annually which supports families in need across Greater Victoria with fresh fruit and vegetables. We publish the Village Vibe, Fernwood’s neighbourhood newspaper and share the voices of our community. We operate ten, three-bedroom units of affordable housing for families in the Cornerstone Apartments and Park Place Apartments.

Looking for a fun and engaging summer program? Join us for our 8-week all-day School-Age camp running from July 6 to August 28, 2026.
We’ll be offering a summer full of:
• Creative crafts
• Active games
• Community visits to local parks
• BC Transit trips to splash parks and beaches.
Each week features a unique theme designed to support children’s growth and creativity through engaging programming.

This morning, we had a wheelbarrow full of leaf mulch next to our garden shed. We set this aside to care for all the beautiful community gardens we maintain around the centre.

Unfortunately, in the last few hours, this wheelbarrow was emptied without our knowledge.

Let’s repair damaged clothing together!

Bring your mending projects and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of stitching, chatting, sharing ideas, and picnicking in the park.

The Tsugi Hagi team will provide simple guidance, all materials and tools, and design ideas for visible mending. Beginners are very welcome — basic stitching techniques will be shared throughout the event.

Bring your own damaged clothing or simply come and explore. Participants are welcome to mend rescued garments (denim, jackets, and more) provided by .ca.

Something's Wrong in Fernwood 🤪 is coming this summer and we need creative directors! Do you know a kid with too many ideas??

Kids ages 8 to 12 are invited to share their wackiest ideas at a "pitch session" on Saturday, June 6. The best pitches will get turned into real art installations hidden around the neighbourhood this summer!

Volunteers get first dibs on plants along with snacks and drinks that will be provided!

The volunteer shifts are as follows, but we welcome you whenever you can make it!

Shift 1: 1-3pm Set up and Plant Distribution
- Setting up tables, separating and labelling plants in their trays
- Distributing plants to community members
- Registering community members when they arrive using their phone or a paper form

Shift 2: 2:30-4:30pm Plant distribution and Take down
- Distributing plants to community members

We invite folks of all ages to join our free intergenerational art drop-in! Connect, create collaborative art, and share stories. No art experience needed — just bring your imagination! This is a welcoming space to express yourself, connect with others, and contribute to a collective artwork that celebrates our community. No registration required. Snacks and art supplies provided.
