Have you heard the rationalization that keeping a functional ICE vehicle results in less environmental impact than getting an EV? We had, and years ago demonstrated that in as little as two years the ICE Operational emissions overtake both the Embedded and Operational emissions of an EV.

Well, the respected journal 'Science' has had a look and confirmed that keeping an ICE vehicle on the road (unless you don't drive it) results in far more emissions than an EV, even on the dirtiest grid in Canada.

Heart Aerospace’s X1 demonstrator aircraft completed its first flight at Plattsburgh International Airport in upstate New York, becoming the largest battery-electric aircraft ever flown.

With a 106-foot wingspan and takeoff weight over 25,000 pounds, X1 completed a 27-minute piloted mission comprising taxi, takeoff, climb, maneuvering and landing.

Powered entirely by batteries, X1 used approximately $5 worth of electricity during the flight, highlighting electric aviation’s potential to deliver structurally lower commercial aircraft operating costs.

The flight demonstrated electric aviation at the scale of a commercial airliner, marking a major step toward bringing electric aircraft into everyday airline service.

The milestone advances the development of Heart’s ES-30, a 30-seat hybrid-electric regional airliner targeted to enter commercial service in 2031.

Want to know one of the many reasons we are keen on Electric Vehicles?
Mathematics.
Looking at two used vehicles for the same price, the EV will always cost you less. In fact you could afford to spend far more for the EV and still come out ahead for the same annual mileage. And even if gasoline is half as expensive as in this example, the EV still costs less. 😀

On the 21st of July 2026, BC Hydro had it's highest ever single summer day (winters are about twice as large) of energy production, about 8700 MW between 5 and 6 PM. This is driven mainly by increased demand from air-conditioning as our summers get hotter and hotter.

BC Hydro customers with solar (of which there are 17,000) pushed roughly 50 MW over that same hour, but more than 730 MWh over the full day. That is keeping water behind our dams and available for our winter peaks.

So, go out and thank your neighbour who has solar while we thank those we know with solar.
