The Bayanihan Kids Camp was a success!
3 days filled with fun, games, music, and movement. 🎉
On the first day of camp, campers were able to build connections through team building games. Participants learned about Jeepneys, and designed their own. In the afternoon, campers were invited to show off their singing abilities with some karaoke! We heard some great performances of tracks such as Chicago, Die With a Smile, and many Friday Night Funkin' (FNF) tracks. Thank you Bogart, Cassidy, and Thea. 🎤
By the second day of camp, attendance had grown and we were able to welcome new friends to our group. The morning was spent with an energetic session of Just Dance! Participants moved and grooved into snack time. Campers then created home made egg shakers using plastic easter eggs, sea glass, glass beads and washi tape. We were able to experiment with different tones based on what materials are inside the plastic egg. 🪇
The afternoon was spent with community member, Ari. Ari brings with them an extensive background in piano and music. The children were able to engage in synchronized playing using bells, drum pads, a tambourine, and the egg shakers. Much of the camp was filled with imaginative play. An on going story of three magical kingdoms Bunnyville, Banana Kingdom, and Castleside were created on this day. 🎶
The third and final day of camp was bursting with energy as we welcomed two new participants to the group. Campers made their own pizzas in the morning with a demo from some of our board members and our kitchen crew volunteers. Campers also welcomed back their Kuya Ezekiel to play more games. Pizzas were baked and enjoyed at lunch. 🍕
We concluded the camp with a talent show organized by the children. Camper Cassidy A created a bill, while campers provided the talent. 🪩
Thank you to all the volunteers who were apart of this year’s camp. Thank you very much to our community centre coordinator Kathy Lacsina for your support. Thank you to the board members who were able to support. Until next year! ☀️
