🎉 Happy 3rd Birthday, Boris! 🎉

This handsome guy celebrated his 3rd birthday this week, and we’re happy to report that he’s doing great following his airway surgery! ❤️

Boris is feeling much better these days, although he’s recently decided that his nose stitches have overstayed their welcome and keeps trying to rub them out himself. Thankfully, they should be coming out soon! Once he’s stitch-free, he’ll be booked for his much-needed dental surgery to help get him feeling his very best.

Until then, Boris is taking recovery one snack at a time. 🍗👀 You can usually find him hanging out in the kitchen with his foster brother, Norman, patiently waiting for the magical snack-dispensing human to appear. The boys have perfected the art of the “sit and stare” technique and are convinced that persistence pays off.

Please join us in wishing Boris a very happy 3rd birthday and continued success on his journey to better health. We can’t wait to see what this next year brings for this sweet boy! 🥳🎂🐾

🐾🎉❤️ IT’S OFFICIAL… GIA IS ADOPTED! ❤️🎉🐾

Some days are worth celebrating the moment you walk through the door, and this is one of them!

Gia came into the care of the Victoria Bulldog Society on January 12, 2025, and after a long journey filled with love, patience, medical care, and a whole lot of determination, today we are thrilled to announce that Gia’s Gotcha Day has finally arrived!

What a journey it has been for our sweet, goofy, derpy girl.

Since joining us, Gia has tackled a marathon weight-loss journey, attended more than a few veterinary appointments, made incredible progress with her urinary leaking, and finally found the pain management she needed to feel comfortable and enjoy life again. Every step forward was a victory, and Gia never stopped showing us just how resilient she is.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without an amazing foster family who stood by her through the ups and downs, helping her become the happy, healthy girl she was always meant to be.

And then came Robin and Troy.

What started as a foster-to-adopt placement quickly became something much more. Gia settled in, stole their hearts, and began living her absolute best life. Watching her thrive in their home has been everything we hoped for and more.

Today, we are beyond excited to make it official:

❤️ Gia is home.
❤️ Gia is loved.
❤️ Gia is staying forever.

Robin and Troy, thank you for opening your home, your hearts, and your lives to this special girl. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better family for her.

Congratulations, Gia! We are so proud of how far you’ve come and so happy that your next chapter is one filled with endless love, cozy beds, belly rubs, and happily-ever-after adventures.

Forever looks good on you, sweet girl. Officially now Alumni Gia 🐾❤️🥹

🐾❤️ PLEASE WELCOME PINTO TO THE VICTORIA BULLDOG SOCIETY FAMILY ❤️🐾

Meet Pinto — a tiny 8.7 kg (19 lb) French Bulldog with a great personality.

At just 3 years old, Pinto has already had 5 homes. He arrived in our care on June 1st as a local surrender. He arrived with medical & behavioural issues, and a history that has left him struggling to trust that life can finally be stable.😭

Over the last 2 weeks, we’ve been letting Pinto settle in & tell us his side of the story.

Pinto says hes hurting & doesn't want to be abandoned.

Pinto came to us with a significant limp affecting both his front & back leg. He had a cut on his paw, GI issues, is underweight, lacked muscle tone, and just uncomfortable.

After a full vet workup, Pinto has:

🐾 A deep chronic ear infection that is now being treated
🐾 BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) & needs surgery
🐾 Hemivertebrae & butterfly vertebrae
🐾 Evidence of an old IVDD spinal injury
🐾 Ongoing mobility pain

Good news? We can help.

Once we started pain meds, Pinto began moving much more comfortably & showing us the happy little dog hiding underneath.

But his physical challenges aren’t the only thing he’s battling.

Pinto has severe separation anxiety.

Being left alone — even for a minute — causes him extreme distress. He panics, becomes destructive & will even injure himself trying to cope. After being passed from home to home, it’s no surprise that he’s terrified of being abandoned.

Despite everything he’s been through, Pinto remains a sweet pup.

He loves people, cuddling, playing with other dogs (although he occasionally throws a Frenchie tantrum over toys & food).

We’ve started Pinto on Fluoxetine & will be working closely on a behaviour modification plan to help him feel safe & secure. This won’t be a quick fix.

Initial vet visit, bloodwork, meds, and X-rays have cost $1,100.

His BOAS surgery is estimated at $3,800.

Today, we’re asking for your help.

Pinto’s past wasn’t his choice.

His future is in our hands.🐾

❤️ Please Welcome Pinto by donating to his care.

🎉🐾 HAIHAI IS HOME! 🐾🎉

Great news! HaiHai is out of his dental surgery and back at his foster home, resting comfortably.

This sweet senior was an absolute champ today! ❤️ His dental surgery went well, and all 3 problematic teeth were removed leaving him now toothless. He’s a little loopy tonight (which is to be expected!), but he’s already on the road to recovery and should be feeling so much better in a few days.

At 13 years old, HaiHai has been through a lot in his life, and we’re so grateful that we could give him the care he needed to live more comfortably.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated, shared, commented, and cheered him on today. Together, you helped raise $510 toward HaiHai’s medical costs, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your support. Thank you!

💙 A very special thank you to Dr. Petra for taking such wonderful care of HaiHai today. Your compassion, skill, kindness, and love for HaiHai didn't go unnoticed. Senior dogs like HaiHai deserve every chance to be comfortable and pain-free, and we’re so grateful for the exceptional care and attention you gave him throughout his procedure. We know he was in the very best hands, and we can’t thank you enough for helping our sweet senior boy start this next chapter feeling so much better. 🐾❤️

💕 Because of you, HaiHai is one step closer to enjoying his next chapter pain-free. Thank you all!

Please keep the well wishes coming as he recovers over the next few days. We know he’ll appreciate all the love!

🚨🐾 HAIHAI NEEDS YOUR HELP TODAY! 🐾🙏

Today is the BIG day! Are you up for a Challenge?

HaiHai is heading in for a much-needed dental surgery, and we’re facing a bill of approximately $1,500–$1,800.

At 13 years old, HaiHai has already been through so much. After spending his life living unhoused, he’s finally safe and ready for his next chapter. But first, he needs relief from the painful dental disease he’s been living with.

💔 Can our amazing community help us cover his surgery costs TODAY?

🐾 THE CHALLENGE:
💲 Donate any amount.
💬 Comment below with your donation amount (or simply say “Done!”).

🎯 Goal: $1,500–$1,800 TODAY

$5, $10, $20, $50—it all adds up. If just 75 people donated $20, we’d hit our goal.

Will we get there? We honestly don’t know—but with this amazing community behind HaiHai, anything is possible, Right?

🐾💕 HaiHai has survived life on the streets. Let’s help him start his next chapter pain-free.🙏

🥞🐾 Pancake Update! 🐾🥞

Look who got the all-clear from the vet and is officially starting to wean off her Prednisone… Pancake! 🎉💕

Even better, she has finished all of her antibiotics and ear medications! Yahoo!! 🎊 she got her last booster vaccine & was such a good girl!

When Pancake arrived in our care from the shelter, she was already on Prednisone, and we suspected she may have some underlying allergy issues that would need ongoing management. We’re hopeful her taper goes smoothly, but if she still needs support for her allergies, we’ll explore other long-term options that are safer and more appropriate than staying on Prednisone.

We’re also happy to report that Pancake has gained a little weight! 🥰 She was definitely on the thin side when she arrived, so it’s wonderful to see her gain a little weight after the 1st week she didn't gain anything. Our goal is to keep that weight gain slow and steady so she stays healthy and comfortable.

Every day Pancake continues to show us what a sweet, resilient little girl she is, and we’re so proud of the progress she’s making. ❤️ We have a ways to go with her reactive but she's a smart girl & loves to work for all the cookies!

Thank you to everyone who helps make stories like Pancake’s possible through your donations, support, and encouragement. We can’t wait to share more updates as she continues on her journey! 🐶💕

🐾🍻 Thank You, Paws & Pints! 🍻🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at Paws & Pints yesterday! Whether you came to say hello, made a purchase, donated, played Plinko, or simply stopped to learn more about what we do, we truly appreciate your support. Events like these help us continue providing care to bulldogs in need, and we love connecting with our amazing community whenever we can. ❤️

While we didn’t have any dogs at the event this time, stay tuned for our next event next weekend because we will have a very special pup joining us! 🐶✨

We also have a small favor to ask. Thanks to our recent fundraising efforts, we finally have a storage shed to keep our tables, tents, and event supplies organized. 🎉 However, we’re looking for a baker’s-style wire rack (with or without wheels) to help store and access everything more easily for our volunteers.

If you have a wire rack gathering dust that you’d be willing to donate, we’d be incredibly grateful! One or two would make a huge difference in helping us stay organized and making before an event & after an event easier for our volunteer team.

Please send us a message if you can help. 💕

Also a huge thank you to our incredible volunteers who spent their day helping at Paws & Pints! Thank you 🙏

Thank you again for supporting the Victoria Bulldog Society—we couldn’t do this without you! 🐾❤️
