What a difference thirty years makes! From tumultuous discussions and the threat of closure, to an agreement that kept climbers, local government, and the public happy.
Fleming Beach is a shining example of how working together in cooperation can lead to harmonious recreational opportunities for generations. One thing hasn't changed at all in thirty years; us climbers love these rocks!!

Come celebrate with us this Saturday from 10-3. BBQ Hot dogs served at lunch time. 🤗🌭🪨

In 1996, the Township of Esquimalt settled on an arrangement to allow and support rock climbing on the wall at Fleming Beach. This year, the South Island Climbers Association is inviting you to join us there to celebrate that milestone.

Our event, Esquimalt Rocks: Celebrating 30 Years of Safe Climbing, will take place on Saturday, June 6th, from 10:00 to 3:30.

Join us early for coffee and friends.
Join us at noon to re-cut the ribbon, rededicate ourselves to the preservation of this amazing place, and enjoy a BBQ lunch with friends.

What a night it was!

Thank you all for coming out to our screening of the Mellow Film tour. The success of this event exceeded our expectations, and we can’t be happier to have shared it with you. On top of an amazing chance to connect as a community, we were also able to raise almost 2K for the organization, which will go directly into access and inclusion work. We want to offer a special thanks to our guest speaker .harnden and to all the amazing local businesses who donated prizes, for providing bevies, and the Vic Theater for hosting!

Keep your eyes on our feed as we have some more exciting events coming up!

See you on the rocks.

NEXT THURSDAY: SICA is excited to welcome Squamish climber Ben Harnden to the Mellow Film Tour, where he’ll share insights on the past and future of hard trad, followed by a live Q&A.

Ben has spent over a decade seeking out and repeating bold, minimally protected trad lines, and will share his perspective on difficult headpoint-style climbing in Squamish. He spent some time with Connor up on drifters escape this last summer and had a first-hand view of the wizardry that took place.

With notable 5.14 trad repeats and first ascents such as Cobra Crack, Crack of Destiny, The Bull, and the Voight-Kampff Test, we’re very excited to welcome Ben to the stage. Bring your questions and curiosity about Squamish trad.

Ps there will be a 50/50 draw at Mellow, so bring a little cash to support local access and get a chance to win some $$

Tickets still available, find the 🔗 in our bio!
