WHO'S UP FOR AN ADVENTURE?
Apparently the 84 junior youth who showed up for our annual Summer Adventure Camp in Nanaimo this past week.
Here's a short recap from this year's Camp Director, Ryan Schmand.
Hundreds of hours from staff and volunteers made this week a massive success! Kids, participated in sports, and various different stations such as high adrenaline activities like our Ninja Course, Rock wall and our 30 foot high sky walk! Anxiety and fear stood no chance to grip our youth, as we spoke words of encouragement over each one and cheered them on from the side! Many kids left feeling empowered that they could overcome fear because of their accomplishments this week!
Every morning we started our day with an amazing puppet show based on the story of Abraham, followed by 10-15 minutes of worship music and ending with a message from 5 different speakers through the week! We then transitioned into our daily activities and games, each group participated in 2 of these sessions a day, and then after lunch our games teen led the entire group in a structured wide game! Lunch and snacks were provided all through out the day to keep these youngsters filled with the energy needed to compete and dominate!!
A huge thank you goes out to all of our ministry partners and those who have given to our Adventure Camp, with out you all coming together to believe in the mission and vision that God has for our children on our island, none of this would be possible! Also, to our dozens of volunteers who invested their time and efforts into camp this year, you are the real heroes! Watching our youth leaders take on roles of leadership and mentoring these young ones, was one of the most incredible things to see first hand. Many of our youth excelled and showed us that they are ready for the role of leadership! Here, at YFC we are huge on discipling the next generation of leaders, and I can ensure you that the future of YFC Nanaimo, is in great hands with these youth leaders!
