Food for Thought Day 5 Recap

Wrapping up an incredible week of learning, connection, and agriculture!

Youth explored technology in dairy and poultry, egg production, pest management, and the role of temporary foreign workers in Canadian agriculture through visits to , and a presentation with and an incredible egg bar with all the toppings you could think of!! An awesome day to end the program!

Food for Thought Day 4 Recap!

Day 4 challenged youth to think critically about agriculture, sustainability, and the information we use to shape our perspectives.

From exploring organic vs. conventional farming to learning how people, planet, and profit connect to sustainability, youth gained new perspectives and questions to take forward.

The day also included a tour of the , followed by a tour of Scania Greenhouse Flower Farm, Agriculture Olympics, and some fun at Bridal Falls Waterpark!

The Abbotsford 4-H Beef Club set a goal to give back in a meaningful way, and they turned that goal into action! After voting as a club, members purchased a pig through the PNE 4-H Auction, with the meat being donated to the Abbotsford Food Bank and Patricia House in Langley.

With processing costs generously covered by Iron Butcher Custom and additional support from Johnson Meat Packers, this project became even more impactful!

Abbotsford 4h beef club , thank you for showing us the very best of 4-H. Your members saw an opportunity to give back and turned it into something that will directly impact people in their community. We are incredibly proud of your leadership, your generosity, and the example you are setting for 4-Hers across BC!!
