Love planning unforgettable events and bringing communities together? The Vernon Winter Carnival Society is looking for a Special Events Coordinator to help create the magic behind one of Canada’s most celebrated winter festivals! ❄️
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate team, coordinate incredible community events, and be part of a festival tradition that has brought Vernon together for over 60 years. From parades and family fun to signature Carnival experiences, you’ll play a key role in making the 2027 Carnival unforgettable.
*Please note this is position is a temporary position through the Canada Summer Jobs Program Grant. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 to 30. Contracts run for a 8 week time period starting June 8 to Aug 3. Two (2) positions will be hired.

We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Marti Giroux, a dear friend and longtime volunteer of Vernon Winter Carnival.
Since the early 2000s, Marti was a constant presence at VWC, as well as with many other non-profit organizations, giving her time, energy, and care to something she truly loved: this community. Whether working behind the scenes in the office, lending a hand wherever it was needed, or going above and beyond in her role as a dedicated board member, her contributions shaped the festival in ways that will never be forgotten.
She worked tirelessly and took great pride in everything she did. Her love for carnival was truly a love for people, bringing joy, connection, and tradition to life year after year. In recognition of her incredible dedication, Marti was honoured with the Order of Jopo in 2023.
It’s hard to imagine the festival without her. Her absence will be deeply felt, not only within VWC but across the many organizations and lives she touched throughout our community.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Marti’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
We are so grateful for every moment, every kindness, and every year she gave. Her legacy lives on in the community she helped build and in the memories we will carry forward. Rest easy, Marti…you will never be forgotten. ❤️ ❄️

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in an investigation into the death of an individual last week in Vernon.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, police responded to a report of a deceased person found inside the Vernon Winter Carnival office, located at 3401 35th Avenue in Vernon.

We recognize that this news may be distressing to members of our community and respectfully ask that the privacy of the staff and board members of the Vernon Winter Carnival be honored during this time.

👀We're asking the public for assistance with an investigation into the death of a person last week in Vernon.

🎥Investigators are requesting dash cam footage from any motorists who travelled along 35th Ave between 33rd St and 35th St between 11:00am and 9 p.m., on Thursday, April 9th. Footage captured in that area at that time may be valuable to the investigation.
