“Everyone is a little Irish on St. Patrick’s Day… except the Scottish. We’re still Scottish.”

This graphic made us smile, but it also reminds us of a deeper truth. We may celebrate different cultures, wear different colors, and come from different lands, but our greatest identity is not found in nationality, it is found in Christ.

The Bible says:
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26

And again:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek… for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

Whether Irish, Scottish, American, African, Asian, or anywhere in between, earthly heritage is a gift, but it is temporary. Our eternal citizenship matters most:

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20

Celebrate culture. Enjoy the day. But remember, if you are saved by grace through faith, you belong to a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

In Christ, we are one.
That’s the goal.

Here's some detail regarding Sons of Scotland's presenters on Monday March 9th @7:30 pm at Halina Centre, and note.... no charge. Come and enjoy a presentation by retired teachers Mhairi Todd and David Todd. They are alpinists, adventurers and global travellers. Mahairi grew up in a small town near Inverness, and David grew up in Glasgow, where he began his climbing career on the face of the tenement buildings in which he lived. Come and hear the stories of their scary adventures, encounters with crevasses, sheer cliff faces and leaping across crags and fissures. David spent two and a half years in Antarctica .. and just might tell a story of his dogsled adventures.

We still have some tickets for this awesome event! For those of you who may not know what a “ceilidh” (pronounced Caylee) is, it’s like a Scottish Kitchen party, complete with a wonderful roast beef dinner (with Haggis!), and amazing entertainment that will have your toes tapping - feature performance is Suas, which means UP In Gaelic (Ann Dorval, Caitlan Read, Lynn Hadfield). If you haven’t heard them yet you will be so amazed!

Tickets are available online at Ticketseller.ca or in person at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre. This is a fundraiser for us, so we have some nice auction items, both large and small, and if you have some tartan, don’t forget to wear it 🙂
