summer if they go to camp. We parade every Tuesday night and you can join anytime throughout the year. Every Tuesday from 1830 to 2100 (6pm to 9pm) is when we meet. This organization teaches the cadets about leadership, discipline, time management, teamwork, public speaking, respect, and much more. Cadets is a great place to gain lifelong friendships and a lot of memories. There are many extracurricular activities within the cadet program including; First aid, Biathlon, Marksmanship, Drill, Band, Abseiling, Canoeing, Orienteering, Expeditions, etc. Every year there is a chance for some cadets within the corps to be eligible for camp which could be here is Vernon, Whitehorse, Rocky Mountain, Connaught, and some overseas for the higher level cadets. πŸŽ‰ What a phenomenal turnout for the 1705 BCD Army Cadets' 86th Annual Ceremonial Review πŸŽ‰

The building was packed with support for our cadets. From parents, to siblings, to veterans, to the Mayor- the Vernon community showed up for our cadets in a truly beautiful way.

With 24 BCD Army Cadets on parade alongside the Vernon Cadet Band, which includes cadets from Unit 233 Air Cadets, Unit 222 Air Cadets, Unit 137 Sea Cadets, and Unit 63 Sea Cadets, they put on an incredible display of drill on the parade square before showcasing their knowledge through a variety of static displays.

The evening was filled with awards and acknowledgements recognizing each cadet’s hard work and dedication throughout the training year. Generous donations were received, and appreciation was shown to the many individuals who help keep the corps strong and thriving.

The look of accomplishment on each cadet’s face was something truly special to witness. There are few youth organizations that provide the level of opportunity, leadership, confidence, and personal growth that Army Cadets does.

A full year of hard work was recognized last night, planting seeds of even greater aspirations and achievements in every cadet who stood on the parade square.

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Congratulations, 1705 Army Cadets, you made Vernon proud πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Tonight is the Annual Ceremonial Review for 1705 at the G20 building. The biggest day of the year for the cadets, that they've worked tirelessly for for months. They will be showing off their drill, receiving presentations, as well as showing static displays that cover all of their various learning points that are the cornerstones of Army Cadets.

We invite all members of the community to join us, show your support for all of the Cadets' hard work, and learn something about what the organization has to offer.

There will also be a merchandise table open to purchase a variety of awesome merch that directly funds the Cadets and all of their endeavors. Whether you have a cadet, you were a cadet, or you just find joy in supporting the local youth, we'd love to have you come by with cash and bring home something that represents Vernon.

See everyone at 6:30 pm!

The 1705 Army Cadets has been a cornerstone of Vernon for decades. You wouldn't have to go far to find someone that has either been a part of the corp, or knows someone who was.

Terry was kind enough to send us these photos to share, of 1705 in the 70's.

The fact that Terry kept articles, photos and certificates, is proof of the impact that these meaningful years and friendships last a lifetime.

I think it's probably common for every former cadet, no matter the length of time it's been since they were a part of the corp, to have a box full of their cadet trinkets that they hold very dear to them.

Where do you keep YOUR cadet mementos?

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Congrats to all of the 1705 Cadets last night that qualified for their Star levels! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

All year, these cadets attend classes and courses to advance themselves up the star levels and at the end of the year, all of their hard work is recognized.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Five Star Levels ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Progression typically follows a Cadets time in the program and age.

πŸ’šGreen Star (Ages 12-13 | 1st Year): Focuses on introductory knowledge. You will learn basic drill, citizenship, physical fitness, marksmanship (air rifle), and map/compass. Successful completion often leads to promotion to Cadet (or Lance-Corporal).

❀️Red Star (Ages 13-14 | 2nd Year): Reinforces first-year skills and introduces basic bushcraft and leadership. You act as a role model for newer recruits. Successful completion can lead to promotion to Master Corporal or Corporal.

🩢Silver Star (3rd Year): Focuses on more advanced outdoor survival, expedition planning, and instructional techniques. You begin learning how to teach and mentor junior cadets. Successful completion can result in promotion to Sergeant.

πŸ’›Gold Star (4th Year): A senior-level program requiring you to pass assessments on advanced knowledge and demonstrate superior involvement in corps activities. It opens doors to leadership roles and can lead to promotion to Warrant Officer or higher.

🌟Master Cadet (5th Year): The highest star level, attained by senior cadets in key leadership and instructional roles within the corps.

We want to send out a huge congratulations to these two hard working cadets.

On Tuesday night, 1705 said good-bye to their CWO and welcomed a new RSM.

The Chief aged out of his position and is moving on to do even more incredible things from here, and the new RSM took his place, ready to lead the corp with the same diligence and skill.

Congrats to both of these fantastic cadets. We wish the CWO all the best on his next endeavors, thank you for being such an amazing part of 1705 all of these years.

Last night was a fantastic turn out at 1705 BCD's. We had 27 cadets on parade, with some new faces joining us for their first night.

The cadets have worked so hard on their drill over the year and the had work is showing with their each move getting more precise.

It made us proud to see them moving in unison, and everyone taking such good care of their uniforms. They're a sight to behold. They're almost ready for their year end Annual Ceremonial Review 🌟

Great job, cadets!

Don't forget that tonight, and every Wednesday night, at 1830 hrs, the cadets come together at the same G20 building for marksmanship with the Daisy Air Rifles. See you there.
