Spent the day at the Vernon Flying Club for rust remover recurrence training — always a great reminder that there’s never a finish line in aviation learning. Grateful for the opportunity to keep sharpening skills alongside such a welcoming and knowledgeable flying community.

So thankful we were able to hold a Canadian Rockies Ninety-Nines chapter meeting with such a fantastic turnout of members. It’s pretty special getting a group of passionate women pilots together to connect, support one another, and share our love of aviation. , Roberta Drinkwater Betty Lee Longstaff Katie Paolucci Townsley Kim Williams, Kelly Sheret Keren Wang

Joy Lofthouse, one of the last surviving pilots of the Air Transport Auxiliary, flew a Supermarine Spitfire again more than 70 years after World W*r II, in an emotional moment that honored her service and the overlooked contributions of women in aviation; her legacy stands as a reminder of courage, skill, and the quiet impact of those who helped shape history during one of the most critical periods in aviation.

Huge congratulations to Davina on earning her Private Pilot Licence! ✈️

I’m so incredibly proud of you. Your hard work, determination, and grit paid off, and the sky just gained one seriously talented pilot. I can’t wait to see all the adventures ahead for you from the left seat.

Blue skies and tailwinds, my friend. 💙

In honour of International Women's Day, we celebrate Rosella Bjornson, who is famous for being the first Canadian woman to be hired as an airline pilot. Her career began in 1973 when she began working for the now defunct airline, Transair, after being rejected multiple times, as a pilot for the Fokker F28 regional jet. At the time, she was not only the sole female airline pilot in Canada, but also the only female commercial pilot in all of North America. Bjornson was also an advocate for helping make sure that future female pilots would be given maternity leave when needed. When she became pregnant with her first child in 1979, Bjornson was forced to take unpaid time off from work as maternity leave had not yet been established for female pilots. She worked with Transport Canada to ensure that all pregnant female pilots could be given maternity leave going forward. Bjornson retired in 2004 at the age of 57, after having logged 18,000 flight hours and flying for 5 separate airlines, including Air Canada. Rosella Bjornson helped pave the way for other Canadian women that aspired to be pilots, transporting people and cargo across our wonderful country as well as around the world.

What a great day for a flight!

Canadian Rockies 99s members Kendra Huttema and Kim Williams took off from Oliver in Kim’s sleek RV9A, made a quick pit stop in Princeton, and then continued on to Penticton for the flying club’s weekly morning coffee. ☕✈️ Kendra got to put her copilot skills to work while Kim handled the pilot seat like a pro—smooth skies, good laughs, and a perfect start to the day! 😎💙
