Interact members Arenas Abuzukar and Autumn Court presented to the club last Thursday about their participation at the Adventures in Citizenship Camp. The Rotary club sponsored the two students to attend this yearly Rotary event held in Ottawa.

President/Garage Sale Committee Chair Scott Webb also presented the Vermilion Interact Club with a cheque for the hours that they volunteered at our Annual Garage Sale this year.

This past Thursday Garage Sale Committee Chair Bernie Webb presented Vermilion Heritage Museum Board Chair Jean Murie with a cheque for $10 000 towards the much needed maintenance the Museum needs.

She also presented the JR Marauders Football Team and the Vermilion Roar Lacrosse program with cheques for the work their youth did at the garage sale this year.

The Rotary club was able to donate this money to these programs in the community due to the success of our annual sale and the support of the people of Vermilion and the surrounding communities! Thank you again to everyone for enabling our club to support our community through your generosity at the Annual Garage Sale!

One of the best parts of the Rotary Garage Sale is seeing how donations from our community find their way back into the community in so many different ways.

The following is a note from Pat Calyniuk, Manager of VIBE.

For VIBE, the Garage Sale is an opportunity to purchase black frames and baskets for our Art Gala, along with craft supplies for programming and community events — items we simply could not afford to buy new. This year, we were also able to pick up a large collection of Christmas mugs that will be filled with goodies and delivered to seniors this Christmas season.

It’s a wonderful example of how one donation can continue giving long after it leaves someone’s home. Thank you to Rotary for organizing this incredible event, and thank you to everyone who donated items. Your generosity continues to support local organizations, programs, and people throughout our community.

Tonight we recognized the incredible dedication of the volunteers who contributed more than 1,200 hours of time at the curling rink throughout April. Their hard work and commitment helped make this year’s garage sale a tremendous success, raising $70,128! Every dollar will be staying right here in our community to support Vermilion events and organizations.

What an amazing example of people coming together to make a difference. Our club wants to thank every volunteer, donor, shopper, and supporter who helped make it happen.
