Congratulations to local business owner Laura Reeves who is the deserving recipient of the 2026 Manitoba Prairie Conservation Award, announced just days ago at the Prairie Conservation and Endangered Species Conference.

Her business, Prairie Shore Botanicals, demonstrates that conservation can be a catalyst for sustainable rural development. Laura has shown that protecting natural habitats does not limit opportunity, it creates it. By building a business model around native species, ecological education, and value-added products, she illustrates how biodiversity can drive entrepreneurship, tourism, and local spending.

After the first PRCC Youth Entrepreneur Challenge in 2025, we were thrilled to connect some of our five young entrepreneurs with opportunities to grow their businesses, whether it was a potential new customer or a seasoned mentor.

We're excited to see what the 2026 cohort brings!

Encourage a young person in your life to consider applying to the program. Whether they already have a side-gig or just an idea, the mentoring and connections will be invaluable on their path forward.

👉Calling all local students in grades 7-12 who are already running a side-hustle, have a business idea they want to develop, or are interested in an entrepreneurial career path.

We are thrilled to launch our second PRCC Youth Entrepreneur Challenge. This is a local opportunity for students to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges to win up to $500 cash, gaining skills and building confidence through mentorship along the way.

UPDATE: School presentations are this week, so the deadline to enter is now April 20.

Find more details, including the application form and program guide on our website - and learn about last year's winners.
