Acerca de Tania 🌿
Tania Márquez Aragón es autora de El silencio es mi lengua madre (ZurdoPress, 2022). Ha publicado poesía y traducciones en varias revistas digitales e impresas, y ha impartido talleres de escritura en comunidades de México, Guatemala y Canadá. Actualmente, colabora en el proyecto interdisciplinario “Borders/Fronteras”, que integra música, poesía, fotografía y medios digitales, y cursa el diplomado en gestión cultural de base comunitaria, cultural y recursos bioculturales de la Universidad de Colima. Fue beneficiaria de la beca del Sistema de Apoyos a la Creación y Proyectos Culturales en la categoría de poesía: jóvenes creadores (México, 2023-2024).

Spanning over 70 years, two women recount their experiences growing up in Colombia and immigrating to Canada. Intersecting with key moments in Colombian history, Vanishing Points is an essay film that reflects on the entanglements between official histories and personal stories, and the complexities of diasporic identity.

Shot on Super 8mm, Hi8 and Digital formats and punctuated by an expressionistic sound design, the film creates a polyphonic composition of mirrors, labyrinths, dreams and nightmares that questions the reliability of narration while destabilizing the idea of history and perspective.

Belleza traces the fragmented lives of two Mexican brothers, Óscar and Mario, torn apart by disappearance and fading memory. Guided by a young woman’s hypnotic voice, the film drifts through rituals, games and mystical gestures, blurring documentary and the supernatural. From mines to volcanoes, bodies and landscapes merge into currents of intensity, offering tender and disorganized visions of youth, memory and the violence of a world that spares neither Earth nor its inhabitants.

Reminder! Tomorrow (Oct 30th) is the first Fall Session of Futuros Primordiales Actuales listening sessions!

We will be listening to Music for Shapeshifters : Field Recordings from the Amazonian Lowlands (1981-1985, Venezuela, Colombia)

This record features recordings of trumpet and flute ensembles of the Wakuénai (Curripaco) peoples used to materialize spirit animals in their community.
