Every senior deserves to live with dignity, autonomy, and respect.

This Seniors’ Week in B.C., we’re spotlighting the Home For Us team, who are helping bring the Home For Us model of care to Providence’s publicly funded long-term care homes.

Hear their perspectives on how this approach is building meaningful relationships, enhancing residents’ quality of life, and creating communities where seniors shape their days around their own preferences, routines, and goals.

Join Alisdair as he speaks with Joe, a resident at Youville Residence in Vancouver, about what makes the Home For Us model of care so meaningful.

For Joe, it’s the freedom to live life on his own terms. He comes and goes as he pleases, chooses what he wants to eat, and stays active through the exercise program. At Youville, residents are supported in shaping their days around what matters most to them, while receiving compassionate, high-quality medical care.

Help support Providence Living as they continue expanding the Home For Us model of care to other publicly funded long-term care homes.

Providence Living at The Views showed us that long-term care can be reimagined in a purpose-built space. But what about existing care homes that don't have brand-new buildings? Can this model of care work there too?

Join Alisdair as he visits Youville Residences to hear directly from staff and residents about what's possible for the future of publicly funded long-term care.

We’re grateful to share that the Conconi Family Foundation has made a transformative $2 million gift to St. Paul’s Foundation—advancing a new vision for publicly funded long‑term care through Providence Living’s Home for Us model of care.

At Providence Living at the Views, Home for Us is redefining what long‑term care can be—centred on choice, dignity, and connection, where residents shape their daily lives and feel truly at home.

This gift supports both implementation and scale:
✅$1.25M to embed Home for Us into daily care through key roles that strengthen belonging and sustainable change
✅$750K to support UBC‑led research that will generate the evidence needed to expand this model across BC

💙 Thank you to the Conconi Family Foundation for your leadership and lasting commitment to seniors’ care.

Today, there’s an opportunity for you to be part of this change. The Conconi Family Foundation is matching all gifts to St. Paul’s Foundation up to $1.5 million.

Together, we can help all British Columbians in long‑term care feel known, loved, and at home. Donate and double your impact here: bit.ly/3OgsPKU.

One day, we or someone we love may need long-term care. When that time comes, we want to feel comfortable that the care and living environment are the best they can be.

Providence Living at The Views is Canada’s first publicly funded long-term care village, designed to rethink what the experience can look like. As this new model is introduced, the Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes is evaluating how it’s unfolding in real time, tracking progress, identifying challenges, and helping address them as they arise.

With any new approach, there’s a learning curve. The evaluation helps guide that process, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring the model evolves in ways that truly benefit the people who visit, live, and work in the space.

Long-term care doesn’t have to feel like a lonely and isolated place where you drop off a loved one. It can be a space that feels open and connected, part of the broader community, where friends, family, and even strangers can drop in and feel welcome.

Providence Living is demonstrating how this kind of model can exist within publicly funded long-term care. But don’t just take our word for it, hear directly from two Comox residents who have made visiting The Views part of their routine.

Through its made for B.C. “Home for Us” model of care, Providence Living is expanding this approach across more publicly funded long-term care homes throughout the province, because everyone deserves to feel at home.

At Providence Living at The Views, long-term care looks different.

Residents can stop by an on-site convenience store for groceries or snacks, shape their day based on how they’re feeling, and live in a space designed to feel like home. Staff often say that coming to work feels like coming home.

This is the Home For Us model of care, an approach that’s reimagining what publicly funded long-term care can be.

Watch our interview with Patrick to learn more about how this village-style long-term care is transforming daily life for residents and care teams.

In partnership with St. Paul's Foundation and Providence Living, we’re working to scale publicly funded long-term care villages across
