At SideBySide Children’s Village, we celebrate and support all cultures, nationalities, and religions 🤍

This week, we brought a little piece of home into the village for our YIH youths by embracing the beautiful tradition of Yalda 🌙✨

Held on the first night of winter, Yalda marks the longest night of the year, a time for togetherness, shared stories, and symbols of light and hope. 🍉❤️

A reminder that even during the darkest nights, brighter days and new beginnings are always ahead ✨✨

The SWR team is inviting our community to our annual Polar Bear Plunge on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Blackie Spit, in support of Sidebyside Children's Village.

📍 Blackie Spit - Located in the Crescent Beach - South Surrey
🕚 Arrive at 11:30 a.m. Everyone’s welcome.
🌊 Plunge at 12:00 p.m.
☕ Coffee, hot chocolate & hot dogs by donation

Our journey flying over Canada was more than a trip, it was a gift of giving, connection, and community. Surrounded by close friends, supporting one another every step of the way, we watched our youth experience something truly unforgettable.

Soaring over the breathtaking beauty of Canada and landing in the North Pole, many were moved to tears, overwhelmed by the freedom, beauty, and possibility this country offers. Moments like these remind us why we come together and why experiences matter. 🇨🇦✈️

This holiday season, our hearts (and our community!) are wrapped in warmth and comfort thanks to a beautiful act of generosity. La Vie en Rose donated four big boxes of cozy PJ sets to our non-profit — and they’ve been shared across our village, extended village, and beyond.

Because of their kindness, children, youth, and families in our community will step into the season embraced by warmth, coziness, and care.

✨ A Heartfelt Thank You to RBC! ✨

This week, we were honoured to welcome the incredible team from RBC for a Day of Caring at SideBySide Children’s Village and what a day it was!

Their hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to jump in wherever help was needed made a tremendous impact. RBC’s team truly brought the holiday spirit to life in our village. 🎄💛

From hanging outdoor lights, transforming our Village Center, outfitting a suite, and even wrapping gifts, they helped set the stage for a magical holiday season for our entire community.

We are so grateful for their generosity, their teamwork, and the joy they brought to our village. Thank you, RBC, for helping us make this season brighter for the children and families we serve! 🌟

For those who don’t know us, we’re SideBySide Children’s Village. 💚

We’re a community created for children and youth in BC’s foster care system. A place where they can grow, heal, and simply be kids in a safe and supportive home environment.

Our Village is made up of five homes filled with laughter, connection, and care. 🌿 Siblings grow up together, caregivers are supported, and every child knows they belong.

From early childhood through the transition to independence, we walk side by side with the young people who call the Village home—helping them build confidence, community, and a sense of belonging that lasts.
