Over my 10 year cadet career, I said yes to every opportunity; from summer training and ADAs, to my Orca Deployment with the Royal Canadian Navy, coordinating key Okanagan events, and serving three summers at HMCS Quadra where I grew from a music and sail training staff cadet to Chief of Training Support. Most recently, I had the honour of representing sea cadets nationally as the National Sea Cadet, receiving the RCN Leadership Award from VAdm Topshee in Ottawa, and guiding Prime Minister Mark Carney at CFMETR. This program gave back exactly what I put in, and I would not change a single moment of it.

“My final message to you is to never underestimate the cadet program. If you put 100% effort into everything you do, TRUST ME, you will NOT regret it. YOU are all leaders. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fresh recruit that joined last month, or you’re going on your 10th year in the program. You will always continue to learn, grow and mentor the next generation beneath you.”

On Feb 18th we said farewell to CPO1 Huang as he reached the end of his cadet journey. He lead with confidence, passion, and dedication, leaving an positive impact. We thank him for everything he did for Captain Vancouver and wish him to best in his future.
