Reconnection. Resilience. Reflection.
This is what the canoe journey represents.

When UNYA youth take part in Pulling Together, they are not just paddling across the water. They are stepping into leadership, culture, and collective strength.

Journeys like these are made possible through generous donors, committed sponsors, and partnerships that move with purpose.

Let’s keep the momentum going. Your support sends ripples through generations.

This Sunday, July 6, Indigenous youth from UNYA’s Aboriginal Youth First (AYF) Sports & Recreation program will begin a powerful journey. One that weaves together land, water, culture, and spirit.

This journey has been months in the making. Through practice pulls, preparation days, and a Canoe Awakening Ceremony, youth have been preparing mentally, physically, and spiritually for what lies ahead.

The Annual Pulling Together Canoe Trip is one of our most meaningful land-based programs. It offers youth from the AYF program the chance to reconnect with culture, build leadership and teamwork skills, and strengthen their sense of identity… all in a space guided by Elders and rooted in Indigenous knowledge.

To our partners, sponsors, and supporters - thank you 🙌🏽. Your investment helps make this kind of transformative experience possible. Together, we are walking alongside youth as they grow into their strength, their stories, and their futures.

🧡 Join us in sending good energy and encouragement as they launch this journey on the water.

🌿 If you or your organization is interested in supporting this or other land-based cultural programs at UNYA, we invite you to connect with us. Together, we can continue creating opportunities for Indigenous youth to thrive.

“Since becoming a mentor, I've been seeing my mentee smile more and more, and have felt that my efforts in building trust and connection have made a difference for the two of us.” - Tommy (Mentor)

When Indigenous youth see mentors who show up with care, consistency, and a willingness to listen; it creates space for healing, growth, and connection.

At Urban Native Youth Association, we’re calling on men in our communities to step into this work. Not as experts, but as learners, listeners, and role models.

You’ll be supported every step of the way by a team that values cultural respect, personal growth, and the power of reciprocal relationships.

🌿 The future is built in relationship.

🪶🧡 Indigenous Day is a time to reclaim our stories, our languages, and our ways of being. 🪶🧡

It’s a day to come together to learn from our ancestors, celebrate our cultures, and grow into the future with purpose and pride.

Living the Indigenous way means honouring the land, nurturing community, and carrying forward traditions that guide us in balance and respect.

This day invites us all - youth, Elders, families, and communities - to walk the path of connection, understanding, and renewal.

Let’s celebrate the beauty of reclaiming who we are and the rich teachings that continue to shape our lives today.

At UNYA’s Aboriginal Safe House (ASH), every bedroom door tells a story… not with numbers, but with the spirit of animals painted by Indigenous artist KC Hall (Art Work by Kc Hall)

These beautiful, meaningful artworks create a sense of belonging and identity for the youth who live here. Each door reflects a connection to culture, community, and self… reminding them they are seen, valued, and unique.

This personal touch transforms a space into a home, where healing and growth can truly begin.

We are grateful to our community, sponsors, donors, and volunteers who make places like ASH possible… places where youth can find safety and pride in their journey.

Together, we’re building more than shelter. We’re creating a foundation for hope, resilience, and belonging.
