We are inviting everyone to this forum! Learn more about the situation of Filipino Farmers!

Reposting with updated venue! Please register to join us in person at UBC's Henry Angus Building or online on Zoom!

We are so excited to have Filipino farmer / peasant organizer and advocate, Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, visiting Vancouver as part of a Canada-wide speaking tour to shed light on the current human rights situation in the Philippines, and share first-hand experiences from the Filipino farmworkers movement. The tour comes amid growing concern over the impact of militarization and foreign backed security agreements such as the Status of Visiting Forces Agreement (SoVFA) signed between Canada and the Philippines.

Join us on Tuesday, May 19th from 6-9 pm at UBC Vancouver Henry Angus Building Room 98 (2053 Main Mall) and on Zoom! Ticket link in bio or at tinyurl.com/KDMay19YVR

ICYMI: International Workers’ Day March and BBQ

On May 3rd, Migrante BC joined Bayan BC, ILPS, IMA, ICHRP, and other allied organizations and unions to commemorate the contribution of workers across the world.

Over a hundred people marched on Commercial drive and gathered at Grandview Park to call for the end of US imperialist wars of agression that drive the global cost of living crisis and fight for better livelihoods for workers exploited and pushed into precarity for cheap labour. What was clear through the different speakers is that the struggle of migrants and workers remains the same under a system of unbridled greed.

As Migrante BC we continue to call for the end of the labour export program that pushes our kababayan abroad and for genuine democracy and national industrialization so we can stay in the Philippines. For too long, the US and other imperialist countries have dictated the conditions of our workers through extractive and uneven economic relations, the time is now to fight back!

Join us as we amplify the global launch of .awu and link the struggles and movements of both migrants and workers for a more livable world for all!
