Basics For Health Society

Basics For Health Society We incorporated as a non-profit society in B.C. Founded in 2012, Basics for Health is a not-for-profit volunteer-based program funded by ImpactBC.

in 2014 to help build capacity for addressing social determinants of health in primary care and other health care and community settings. We engage post-secondary students and recent graduates as volunteers to connect patients and their families to basic resource needs that impact their health (such as food, shelter, child care, job training etc.). We work to fill unmet socioeconomic needs and acc

ess to health care and related resources. Taking inspiration from Health Leads USA, Basics for Health is:

-training and supporting post-secondary students as volunteers to help connect low income clients and their families to the basic resources they need to be healthy

-fostering the next generation of health care leaders by exposing students to a broader hands-on concept of health

-making it easier for providers to practice at the top of their skill/training
