Hello!
As we approach the end of the school year, the Crisis Centre would like to invite you to book our Self-Care for Mental Health online workshop for youth - a live, interactive session for students in grades 6 to 12, offered at no cost, and is now shared virtually!
This online workshop explores how we all have mental health, and invites youth to brainstorm strategies to take care of their emotional, physical and social needs. Through experiential activities, videos, games and discussions, youth create their own personalized “self-care plan” that includes identifying their support network and resources to use in times of crisis or need.
Topics include:
What is mental health
What self-care is and what it is not
Setting boundaries and limits for well-being (exploring social media and screen time)
The importance of reaching out for support
Sessions include information about youth mental health supports and resources available in the community.
Mindful Tools for Everyday Living (4 or 8 Sessions)
Mindful Tools for Everyday Living is an online youth program suitable for grades 5 to 12. This trauma-informed program teaches youth how to support managing emotions, fostering healthy relationships and coping with stresses of these times.

Hey Youth,

Youth Council is back! Please keep the following dates in mind.

September 14th is when we will fill up the committees and push for those to apply for exec positions. Bernie will also be in the dunk tank so you don't want to miss that.

If you want to run for an exec position, please email Bernie at [email protected] no later than September 21st.

The speeches and elections for the new exec team will be on September 28th.

Please spread the word and bring your friends for Youth Council. Any new members must go to the youth orientation on Saturday September 15th 10am-12pm.

Diversity Camp Youth Overnight Trip is happening again this year - 3 days, 2 nights in Camp Capilano, North Vancouver.

Dates: Friday, March 23 to Sunday, March 25, 2018

Topics covered: violence & bullying, healthy relationships, discrimination, engagement, self-esteem, human rights & responsibilities, projects, group games, guest speakers, meal-prep and clean-up of meal times.

Bonus: meet new friends from Marpole-Oakridge, Hillcrest, Britannia, Hastings.

On Dec 8th The Youth Council was involved in a workshop by H.E.L.P for Youth Canada Society. The youth learned the importance of education, knowledge in order to succeed in their future goals.
