Lower Mainland Green Team We organize hands-on activities that promote community, health & inspire environmental stewardship 🌱

Our Mission:
To connect, build and empower diverse communities through hands-on activities that promote health, well-being and environmental stewardship

Our Vision:
Healthy communities engaged in environmental stewardship

We Support Communities To:
- Develop a sense of belonging to community and place
- Connect to nature, which increases health, well-being and environmental stewardship
- Learn about how climate change impacts them and the actions they can take locally
- Realize they have the power to make a difference
- Build teamwork and leadership skills
- Join existing environmental programs and groups

Activities To Date:
- Identifying and removing invasive plants
- Planting native plant species
- Picking up litter along shorelines and in parks
- Preparing vegetable beds
- Harvest vegetables

Geographic Area Served:
Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria. In the future we plan to create green teams in other urban areas in BC and across Canada

Demographic:
We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and experience levels to participate in our activities. Notably, we focus on engaging the demographic aged 12-30 who spend little time outdoors.

THIS SATURDAY we're hosting our second Community Litter Cleanup of the Summer! Join us to make new friends while tackling trash on Sat. July 18th, 9am-12:15pm at the Bonsor Recreation Complex in Burnaby!

🙋‍♀️ No experience needed, all ages & abilities welcome! Bring your friends & family and come for as long as you are able!

Our first cleanup of the summer brought together 72 community members to remove 303 pounds of trash, including more than 5,700 cigarette butts! Can YOU help us continue our impact!?
