Crazy8s, founded in 1999 by the DGC BC who is our Presented By sponsor, continues to prove its reputation as the premiere short filmmaking event on the Vancouver film scene. Filmmakers are invited to pitch their short film ideas to a jury of film professionals. 6 are chosen. Those 6 filmmaking teams have 8 days, $1000, and a professional film package to make their short films. 133

We're thrilled to announce that several Crazy8s films have received nominations for the 2026 Leo Awards! The creativity, talent, and dedication of our alumni continue to make an impact across the industry, and it's a true honour to see their work celebrated. These nominations reflect the strong community and commitment that make the Crazy8s community so special.
