SUS First Year Committee

SUS First Year Committee The committee has an entire academic year to take on different initiatives that improve the undergrad experience for other first years. Questions?

SUS First Year Committee (FYC) is a committee that strives to improve the university experience of first-year students in the Faculty of Science through events and initiatives that facilitate community building and personal well-being. SUS First Year Committee (FYC) is a committee of approximately 20 first year science students that strive to represent the entire first year science student body. W

hether it is hosting social events that foster peer relationships or lobbying an academic initiative, the primary function of FYC has always been to support and engage the first year UBC Science community. FYC is also an opportunity for SUS to find active first year members of the faculty and help you in becoming the future leaders of UBC. Please email [email protected] or [email protected].

For our second Get To Know (S)US Workshop, we had VP Communications Rebecca Liu and her portfolio come in for a chat! Thank you to their team for such an engaging and thorough presentation 😊
πŸ’™What is Get To Know (S)US?πŸ’™
Get To Know (S)US is a year-long project initiated by the FYC Co-chairs this year to allow for a smoother transition of first years into SUS. Every first meeting of the month, we invite a SUS VP and their team to our meeting to give a short presentation on what their job entails, what they are looking for in applicants, a rundown of a project/event they have finished or are planning, etc. We hope to share this information with the other first years in UBC science through this page, and are actively looking into making these meetings available for everyone soon so make sure to stay in tune!
