On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the countless children separated from their families, communities, and culture. We remember those who never made it home and the many Survivors who carried wounds from experiences no child should ever have endured. The trauma from the Residential School System, and the Sixties Scoop still echoes through generations today.

So, today we honour the Survivors and the children who never returned home. We recommit to reconciliation, not just through words but in action because every child matters.

We also want to recognize and honour the people doing the hard, hopeful work of building something better for the generations to come.

A mixed-methods case study looks at evaluating the HALT model (Helping Alliances with Law Enforcement to End Trafficking), a coordinated approach developed by the Victim Services Durham Region’s (VSDR) Human Trafficking Response.

The case study explores:
→ What survivor-centred coordinated support actually looks like in practice
→ How survivors and service providers experience the model
→ What appears to make it work
→ Where challenges remain

The findings point to a promising approach for jurisdictions seeking to strengthen their response to s*x trafficking, but also suggest that successful adaptation involves more than copying a set of programs or services.

Our Canadian Programs work to strengthen the people, organizations, and systems responsible for protecting children and youth from s*x trafficking and s*xual exploitation. We are grateful to partner across Canada in resource development, applied research and learning, and cross-sector collaboration.

Join us for our first public Vancouver screening of Firebird—with food, drinks, and a Q&A with the filmmakers to follow!

A survivor story on the big screen - Firebird tells the story of Dolma, a Nepali s*x trafficking survivor, who returns to the brothel in India where her childhood was stolen from her. Today, Dolma works to rescue Nepali girls from the same brothel areas where she was taken.

Early bird tickets are $35 until Sept 23rd.

Seven years ago, Ally was founded with the core belief that every child has the right to a safe and free childhood.

Over the years, our efforts continued to grow through research, prevention, aftercare, and education - doing whatever it takes, for as long as it takes to protect children from s*x trafficking and exploitation.
