Our Back to School Blast in Surrey was definitely a blast! 💥

During our Food For Families hamper distribution, we celebrated the start of a new school year with our families through a day filled with fun, laughter and community.

We enjoyed games, crafts, freezies, airbrush tattoos, a photobooth, and a raffle with a chance to win fun prizes!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to create moments like this while continuing to walk alongside families in our community 🙌🏻

🎒✨Back to School Blast is in full swing!

What a wonderful week it’s been preparing to send 1,000 backpacks into the hands of children and youth across our communities! 💛

We’ve had corporate groups, partners and volunteers come together to pack each backpack with love and care, filling them with everything from crayons, markers, binders and graph paper to cereal generously donated by Nature’s Path Organic to gratitude journals donated by Signal Hill and more. Every bag is packed with purpose and ready to help students start the school year feeling prepared and supported. 📚✏️

Midweek, we kicked off Back to School Blast season with our first-ever event in Delta! 🎉 It was so special to open our doors to families in Delta and serve the community for the first time. From freezies and pizza to the smiles on every child’s face as they received their backpack, it was an amazing day of connection, celebration and community.

And we’re just getting started! Vancouver and PoCo are happening tomorrow, followed by Surrey next week. We’re incredibly thankful for our hardworking team and everyone who has helped make this season possible. We can’t wait for more fun, connection and community! ❤️

R E A C H 🤲

At CityReach, reach isn’t just part of our name….it’s at the heart of everything we do.

While we’re committed to creating a safe and welcoming place for people to gather, we also know that not everyone can come to us. That’s why our Outreach Teams go directly into the community, meeting people where they are with practical support, compassionate conversations, and hope. ❤️

Nearly every Saturday, our volunteers serve in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, downtown Coquitlam, and Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood, reminding people experiencing poverty and homelessness that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

Rain or shine, this work is only possible because of dedicated volunteers and generous supporters who choose to show compassion in action.

And just last week, on July 29, our Night Shift in Surrey was an amazing evening! Volunteers came together to serve a hot meal, connect with community members, and share compassion in action. 🥘💙
