Artists, Artisans, Creative Minds, Art Lovers... Share & Collaborate...

WE Arts : connecting community with arts… celebrating our Home City Neighbourhood here in the glorious West End of Vancouver… our goal is to strengthen and enhance our community through art. WEArts was created in partnership with the City of Vancouver and the WEBIA during the community engagement process of the West End Community Plan (WECP) adopted by city council November 2013. WE Arts held a pu

blic open house in June 2013 where the following top 6 priorities were established, resulting in 4 pages in the WECP. Those 6 priorities are… (1) Arts Centre and Physical Venues, (2) Public Art Displays in the West End, (3) Arts Festivals, (4) Artist Connection System (website, artist registry, what's on, magazine), (5) Temporary art venues and galleries in businesses, vacant spaces, community spaces, outside etc, (6) Affordable live and work space for artists… In 2014 we've applied for grants to create a more in depth Art Plan including WEArts.ca for our unique downtown peninsular neighbourhood. The WE Arts Art Plan is slated to run May to August with public forums for your contribution to the plan, with celebration in September to share the resulting plan with an Art Jam and Art Show… We want to hear from you the artist, artisan, creative minds and art lovers, supposedly more than 4,100 of our 45,000 residents are employed in the arts, so want to connect us all here and at WEArts.ca… we'll keep you appraised of developments and opportunities for participation… let us together enhance and deliver on the WECP… in the short term we are shooting for one or more Pop-up Local Arts Galleries on Denman Robson and Davie, a few community murals, a social gatherings, one special gathering for inspiration Monday May 5th (6-8pm) to meet fellow artists, artisans, creative minds and art lovers… save the date, details to follow shortly…

'I am a local Vancouver artist who brings a unique set of creative insights into my colourful paintings. Since my early days, I’ve enjoyed drawing, creating and design. My mixed media work is abstract and brings colours and vibrancy to the canvas. I apply a range of design techniques that provide diversity in the output of various works.

My inspiration comes from everyday life around me. I work primarily in acrylic paint, oil pastels and gold foil in my home studio. The most common feedback I get from others is “Such happy art”, “You have such a gift, thank you for sharing your art with us, it lifts my heart”. I get tremendous satisfaction seeing my work add liveliness to a room.'

'As someone who has a deep appreciation for all types of creative expression, I have always explored different types of art making. I have a mutual love for traditional fine art and digital art, and often am interested in where the two can meet and relate to each other. While my drawings are often figurative, and my experience working in animation is technical, my paintings come to me in abstract form.

There are many subject matters I am interested in, as well as mediums and techniques, but I feel like painting has allowed me to truly express an inner landscape of thought. As the human body fascinates me, so do the functions of each individual piece of us. I have created this series as an exploration of the seasons that reside in us all, focusing on the heart, brain and lungs, where we intake the most information and feeling.'

The Gallery George is proud to donate art again for a great cause! Music Heals Charitable Foundation, raises awareness and funding for the therapeutic use of music and physical and mental health practices.

This year I donated from my private collection. When artist Gary Fox exhibited with me at the Art Institute, he gifted me this beautiful painting. I'd like to gift it forward to help others.

Gary Fox has since passed away and I have lost contact. If anyone has his family's contact, I'd love to pass on this good news.

FEATURED TODAY:

'These artworks are vibrant and colorful landscape photograph capturing a sweeping vista of rolling hills. The hills are lush with bright green and rust-colored patches, creating a patchwork effect. Shadows play across the undulating terrain, highlighting the soft curves and natural textures of the land. The scene is bathed in natural light, enhancing the vivid hues and providing a sense of tranquility and open space.'
