Ravi Coltrane will be performing his father’s masterpiece “A Love Supreme” in its entirety on September 28 at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church to celebrate the centennial of John Coltrane. 🎷 Ravi Coltrane

The Bad Plus are bringing their Farewell Tour to the Hollywood Theatre on December 6. 👋 This will be your final chance to see a band that has been playing at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival for decades.

Known for pulling rock’s energy, improvisational freedom, and an irreverent, genre-blind sense of humour into one sound, The Bad Plus built a reputation as one of the most distinctive acts in modern jazz, equally at home covering Nirvana as reinventing Stravinsky. The current lineup, founding members Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums) with Ben Monder (guitar) and Chris Speed (saxophone), has spent the past two years touring farewell dates across North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia. Vancouver is one of their last stops before the band closes things out in Minneapolis, where it all began.

The incredible team that brought you the 2026 Vancouver International Jazz Festival! 🤩 Making a music festival happen in today’s landscape is no small feat, and doing it with such a tiny team makes it even more challenging. But we were incredibly fortunate this year to have such a dedicated crew working tirelessly to make it all happen.

Behind the scenes, so many people contribute an incredible range of skills, wearing multiple hats and putting in countless hours over the course of an entire year to make the festival the very best it can be. And once the festival finally arrives, nothing else exists for us – we eat, sleep, and breathe jazz. It’s such an intense experience, some of us are still recovering. 🫠

And we are not going anywhere! We have three incredible shows coming up this fall. Including the Ravi Coltrane Quartet on September 28, Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves on October 13, PLUS something very special that we will be announcing tomorrow… 👀

Festivals are made of music, but they run on logistics. From all of us at Coastal Jazz, thank you for celebrating with us! 🥳🎷 This Festival is yours as much as it’s ours. You showed up, danced, and reminded us why we do this. Our volunteers gave up early mornings, late nights, and rainy afternoons to make it happen. Our staff poured everything in to make the 41st a success! We’re endlessly grateful.

AND we’re not going anywhere yet. This fall marks 100 years since John Coltrane’s birth, and we’re celebrating with two very special shows:
