What happens to people living with scleroderma over time?

Scleroderma is a complex autoimmune disease that can affect the skin, blood vessels, and internal organs. Because the disease can vary greatly from person to person, understanding how it changes over time is critical to improving care.

We're working to improve our understanding of how scleroderma affects people’s daily lives and identify factors that may predict changes in their health. Learn more: https://ow.ly/bbVx50ZA2hv

Serious autoimmune diseases like systemic sclerosis and lupus can cause damage to many organs, including the skin, lungs, and kidneys. Many available treatments don't work well for everyone with the disease.

We are studying a promising treatment to better control these diseases by targeting the immune cells that cause them. Find out more: https://ow.ly/ZWLO50ZA21Z

67% of people with arthritis are women, making it the most commonly reported chronic condition among women in Canada.

Yet arthritis is often dismissed as just a normal part of aging. The reality is that it can affect women of all ages, causing chronic pain, fatigue, and making everyday activities more difficult.

What questions about osteoarthritis that occurs after a joint injury need to be answered most urgently?

Research is most impactful when it addresses the questions that matter to the people who will ultimately use or benefit from it. That's why the Osteoarthritis Research Society International ( ) discussion group is inviting people with diverse perspectives to help identify the highest priorities for future post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) research.

We are looking for:
• People who are at risk of PTOA (joint injury) or living with PTOA
• Caregivers
• Healthcare providers
• Researchers (spanning all research domains)
• Representatives of organizations involved in healthcare policy, funding, or advocacy

Participation involves two online surveys (~1 hour in total, completed 2–3 months apart).

If you're interested in helping shape the future of PTOA research, we'd love to hear from you.

Please consider sharing this post with your colleagues and networks so we can hear from as broad, diverse, and international a group as possible.

More than half of Canadians living with arthritis are under the age of 65, affecting people during some of the most active and productive years of their lives. So how can we help people with arthritis stay active in ways that work for them?

That’s what our I START research is exploring. Led by clinician investigator Dr. Jasmin Ma, I START, which stands for "Improving Strength Training and Tailoring Among People with Rheumatoid Arthritis", is a project that investigates what helps people with rheumatoid arthritis start and maintain strength training, and how programs can be better tailored to each person.

When you join MOVE with Arthritis Research presented by Beachcomber Hot Tubs, you're raising funds to make research like this possible. Registrants will have access to an online strength training exercise session led by Dr. Ma; more details to come soon!
