Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Wise Human Connection.

This weekend we are pausing to give thanks for this circle. We are grateful for every question asked, every book shared, every honest conversation, and every person who chose to show up and grow alongside others.

Gratitude is a kind of wisdom. It roots us, steadies us, and reminds us how much we carry one another.

Wherever you gather this weekend, we hope your table is full of warmth, good food and real connection.

With gratitude,
WHC

A glimpse into our last Wise Read gathering.

Our Chief Reading Officer was speaking about the balance between mind and body when she passed around pieces of wood, each with a single word on it. We picked without looking. Whatever word landed in your hand became your message for the day, and the invitation was to make it your own.

Some words felt like a coincidence. Most of them did not feel like one at all.

Some mornings you leave the table with more than you came for.

This is what the Wise Read Challenge looks like in real life. One book, a pot of coffee, printed questions nobody rushes through, and a small jar of tea that says listen to what your body is asking for.

The challenge is built on micro participation, which is a formal way of saying it asks very little of you and gives back a lot. Everyone starts at Level 1 Reader. Answer one question and you become a Level 2 Insighter. Answer another and you rise to Level 3 Wise Champion and enter the seasonal draw for a WHC workshop credit, a book, a journal, or a feature on our page.

There is no elimination here. Nobody gets voted off. The only thing you compete with is the version of yourself who meant to read more this year.

At the end of the year, whoever reached Level 3 the most times receives the Wisdom of the Year Award.

Our goals are simple. Read consistently without guilt. Think out loud with people who are also thinking. Turn a private habit into a shared one.

You can start this month. Comment READ and we will send you the details.

Swipe through our second gathering.
Same first book, deeper conversations. The faces, the pages, and a discussion that went further than any of us expected.

A big congratulations to Ellie, our Level 3 Wise Champion, now voted to lead this chapter at WHC. She showed up week after week with honesty and curiosity, and the circle grew warmer because of it.

We are still sitting with The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown, the book we chose to open this chapter with. It asks us to put down the armour of having it all together and pick up something braver: our own wholehearted, unfinished selves.

Not perfect reading. Not perfect answers. Just showing up, one page at a time.

Congratulations Ellie. And to everyone still turning pages with us, you did that.

Support is wisdom.

She became a mother, but she never stopped being a woman with dreams, passions, talents, fears, and a story of her own.

Somewhere between caring for everyone else, managing the invisible load, and putting her family’s needs before her own, many mothers slowly lose sight of the person they were before motherhood.

But motherhood was never meant to cost a woman her identity.

When we only recognize mothers for their sacrifices, we miss the whole human behind the role. A mother deserves to be seen not only for what she gives, but for who she is.

The more we support mothers in staying connected to their passions, purpose, friendships, and personal growth, the more we create healthier families, stronger communities, and children who learn that caring for others should never mean abandoning yourself.

Because she is not just a mom.

She is a whole person.

And she deserves to be recognized as one.

This powerful reminder comes from the TED Talk “The Hidden Work of Motherhood” by Anna Malaika Tubbs. A conversation worth watching for every parent, partner, and community member.

Our very first Wise Human Connection book gathering took place at Amberdo Café, and what a meaningful conversation it was.

Together, we reflected on The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown and explored what it truly means to let go of perfectionism, embrace vulnerability, and show up as ourselves.

Reading a book is one thing. Practicing its lessons in everyday life is another. Through sharing stories, challenges, and insights, we discovered that growth happens when ideas move from the pages of a book into our daily choices.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared openly, and helped create a space where authenticity, connection, and learning could flourish.

This is only the beginning of many thoughtful conversations to come.

Motherhood today comes with endless information, opinions, pressure, and emotional noise.
Critical thinking is not about becoming cold or distant. It is about becoming more grounded, intentional, and wise in the way we respond to our children, our emotions, and the world around us.

Sometimes the most powerful thing a mother can do is pause before reacting, question what she hears, separate fear from facts, and think long-term instead of only surviving the moment.

Wisdom in motherhood is not perfection.
It is awareness.
It is reflection.
It is learning to respond with clarity instead of overwhelm.

Small shifts in thinking can completely change the energy of a home. 🤍
