We are an AMS resource group offering resources, safe sex and menstrual products, snacks, and a safe space on campus for all individuals facing gender-based oppression. The Women's Centre is an AMS Resource Group that exists to support all in the UBC community and beyond who share intersecting histories of sexual and colonial violence, classism, ableism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, (and so on
). Specifically, we exist to support anybody who has faced gender-based oppression and has experienced, will experience, or is experiencing womanhood. Its coordinators recognize that patriarchy is only one (important) aspect of an interlocking system of power and oppression, that safe spaces are not guaranteed, and that continual efforts to maintain openness, respect, and honesty are crucial for anti-oppressive organizing and ways of relating to one another.
