Dear Ex-VEC students, not everyone sucks!

One of our teachers was at CCEL and has this to say:

I had an interview this morning to be a sub at CCEL (Canadian college of English Language). I saw a few VEC students talking to translators in reception. When I was talking to the DOS about VEC's closure he said that all the accredited schools of Languages Canada will take any VEC students and honour the contracts they had at VEC. So that's something positive for them!

Meet Your Teacher: Joy

"Teaching found me. I was originally a marketing specialist and worked in a multinational company as a brand manager for many years. When I moved to Oman, I decided to teach in High school. I did for 10 years while teaching at The British Council too. I was the only Indian, colored teacher there. I find teaching very satisfying. I always push my students to discover their potential and when they do, it gives me the greatest satisfacion. I have taught different classes but the one I have taught for 13 years now is IELTS. This is a course I enjoy the most because when my students get their required band score, they are elated and can start working on their other career goals. I just love seeing them succeed. My class is my stage, my students are my captive audience, I create my own dialogues and when they pass and succeed it is for me a box office hit. I am the actor, director and producer of my own show. That is what I love the most. Teaching is my life and if I don't teach I know I will die. I learn from my students, they learn from me. I sing, dance, tell jokes and when I teach I am in a different world. What else can I say?"
