The old ones say
if a hummingbird lingers near you,
a spirit is speaking softly:
Keep going.

Your heart is still alive.
Even the smallest light
can awaken the world.

Su***de grief is often carried quietly, and too often alone.

On Sunday, May 3 at 8:30 PM, the Crisis Centre of BC invites our community to gather at Vancouver City Hall, north side off West 12th Avenue, for a brief public Remembrance Gathering in support of Darkness Into Light.

This gathering will offer a simple moment to honour those lost to su***de, acknowledge the ongoing reality of su***de bereavement, and stand in solidarity with individuals, families, and communities living with that grief.

City Hall will be lit up in honour of the event, helping create a visible public moment of remembrance in our community.

Sunday, May 3, 2026 @ 8:30 PM

30-minute drop-in gathering
Vancouver City Hall - North side, off West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, BC (open in Google Maps)
No registration required; simply show up

Walk with us on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 and donate to support the Crisis Centre of BC's crisis support and su***de prevention programs.

In commemoration of the April 26, 2026 one-year anniversary of the Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy, the Vancouver Grief Society extends its deepest condolences to the Filipino community. Our thoughts continue to be with survivors, families, and friends of victims as they navigate their grief in the aftermath of this terrible event.

We stand with them as they work with existing private and governmental supports and as they seek new resources as well.

We pledge to do whatever we can to help anyone who suffers from this tragedy. We offer 6-week grief support groups three times per year in downtown Vancouver and Kerrisdale.

We also offer tailored community grief workshops. Please visit our website at: https://lmgr.ca/support-groups/ or phone 604-696-1060 or email us at [email protected].

In addition, the BC Bereavement Helpline has a number of supports for survivors of homicide, including their 8-week homicide grief support groups. Phone (604) 738-9950 or 1 (877) 779-2223.

Two experienced and compassionate facilitators will walk with you on a healing journey that will provide you with a safe space to share and listen to each other’s stories, develop coping strategies and to be with others who understand the profound pain of loss.
