NYC. We're coming for you. 👀

re:Naissance is partnering with the Grammy-winning Dashon Burton for Bloom: In The Tradition of Revolution — an immersive musical experience where archive, live voice, memory, and audience participation meet inside a shared garden of sound at ARTECHOUSE NYC's exhibition, Blooming Wonders.

You may remember Dashon as The Angel of History from Sanctuary & Storm: our immersive opera at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre in 2023. Since then, he's been expanding his creative work into composition and immersive, interactive musical performance, and we can't wait for you to experience it!

Hosted by re:Naissance at ARTECHOUSE NYC
439 W 15th St, New York, NY 10011

June 10, 2026 | 6–7pm | One night only!

✨ Dive into our new blog post exploring how opera has always been immersive, and how re:Naissance was founded on reclaiming that spirit. Founding Artistic Director Debi Wong reflects on opera’s radical past and its future as a genre-defying, awe-inspiring art form, as the journey of Eurydice Fragments, our new immersive touring production, continues!

"Opera was never just about music, or theatre, or spectacle— it was about creating entire worlds where every artistic discipline could transcend its individual boundaries."

In 2024, we had the honour of welcoming 7 artists into our first Convergence Cohort. This program marked the launch of a new re:Naissance initiative designed to support interdisciplinary artists across creative sectors. Through shared learning, conversation, and collaboration, the cohort developed tools for artistic direction, project planning, and collective growth.

👉We’re now calling for artists to join the next Convergence Cohort in 2026!
Learn more and apply by Jan 19th here: https://reopera.ca/convergence-cohort-2026/

- Ten comprehensive learning modules covering artistic visioning, production planning and dramaturgy, values-based policy building, digital innovation and strategic fundraising.
- 1:1 mentorship sessions tailored to each participants unique artistic goals and challenges
- Hands-on training in emerging technologies to expand creative possibilities and address production resource gaps
- The opportunity to perform at IndieFest's Opening Gathering, connect with peers in the festival, and inspire the next cohort.

Remuneration for participation:
$120 per learning session
$500 for their performance at Indiefest 2026
$200 in personal funds

🙋‍♀️Who Should Apply for the Convergence Cohort?

We're looking for equity-deserving artists who:

- Want to produce their own work on their own terms but need the skills and resources to do so
- Are ready to step into positions of artistic leadership with hands-on learning opportunities
-Are curious about emerging technologies and how to integrate them into their creative practice
-Are committed to community-building and potentially mentoring future cohorts, and are available to participate in the activities locally in Vancouver

We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC artists, women and non-binary folks, persons living with disabilities, members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and others whose voices contribute to the further diversification of the arts sector. This is a dedicated space for QTBIPOC artists.
