🌿 What can grow when we create space to connect?

We’re proud to be featured in the Jewish Independent in “Connecting with Nature,” a story about Growing Together - our community gardening program for young adults with varying abilities.

As Shiri Barak Gonen, JCC Inclusion Services Program Coordinator, shared with the Independent, the vision was to create “a safe, welcoming space where members of our community could connect with nature, build meaningful relationships and experience personal growth.”

And that’s exactly what Growing Together is becoming.
From caring for a garden plot and harvesting food to making herbal tea, creating art and building birdhouses, every gathering offers another opportunity to learn, connect and grow.

As facilitator Ran Keren beautifully puts it: “A garden is a nursery for nurturing connection.” 🌱

We’re grateful to the Jewish Independent for sharing the story, and to The Edwina and Paul Heller Memorial Fund, held at Vancouver Foundation, for supporting this meaningful program and helping Growing Together take root in our community. 💚

Read the feature and discover what happens when a garden becomes a place to grow more than plants.

Today, we remember. 🕯️

Three years ago, on October 7, 2023, lives were shattered in Israel. More than 1,200 people were killed and 251 people were taken hostage.

This day has become a day of remembrance, a day to honour those who were murdered, remember the hostages and their families, and hold space for the survivors and everyone who continues to carry the weight of that day.

Today at the J, we come together to remember.

🕯️ 11:15 AM - Screening of a memorial ceremony from Israel, in Hebrew

🕯️ Memorial Table in the Gallery: a space to pause, reflect and remember

Whether you join us for the ceremony or simply take a moment at the Memorial Table, we invite you to be with us in remembrance.

May their memories be a blessing. זכרונם לברכה

We can’t think of anyone more deserving of the Jack Diamond Award than this year’s recipient, legend and fan favourite — Carl Valentine! 🏆

Known as a leader both on and off the pitch, Carl’s impact on the community is outstanding and long-lasting. When he’s not acting as ambassador for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, he can be found mentoring young athletes and championing mental health awareness across British Columbia. He’s an active supporter of environmental initiatives, a vocal advocate for social justice and equality, and a true leader in community camps.

Carl’s legacy is defined by leadership, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to giving back.

Join us in celebrating a true champion of the beautiful game—on the pitch and in our community. ⚽

The 34th Annual RBC JCC Sports Dinner returns to the Hyatt Regency Vancouver on Tuesday, February 23, 2027, and sponsorship opportunities are now open. 🏆

Each year, 800+ business leaders, philanthropists, athletes, Olympians, and community supporters come together for an unforgettable evening in support of the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver and the inclusive programs and services it provides across our community. It's a powerful opportunity to put your brand in front of potential clients, partners, and community leaders while making a lasting impact.

Two ways to get ahead:

⏩ Become an Early Bird Sponsor. Confirm early and receive special recognition and advertising at our 2027 Speaker Reveal Cocktail Party, putting your brand front and center well before the main event.

⏩ Lock in your rate for three years. Returning sponsors can extend their partnership for 2028 to 2030 at current pricing. Sponsorship rates will increase beginning in 2028, so an early commitment is the best way to secure your spot for the future.
