We, the Iranian Students’ Associations across Canada, have come together to demonstrate our solidarity and support for our patriots fighting for a free Iran. As of today, reports indicate over 12,000 deaths as we enter the sixth day of a complete internet shutdown in Iran. To honour the bravery of those who have sacrificed their lives for a free Iran, and to raise awareness among university students and Western media, we invite everyone, whether a student or not, to join us on Friday, January 16, from 3:30-4:30 PM starting in front of the UBC Bookstore, Lee Square #1 and ending at the Engineering block.
We encourage all participants to bring national symbols of Iran, printed photos of those murdered or imprisoned by the Islamic Republic, informational posters regarding the current uprisings in Iran, and the flag of our Canada to show that Iranian Canadians are united with their people in our motherland and our second home. Please refrain from bringing other nations’ flags or symbols, as we aim to maintain focus on our beloved country, Iran.
For safety purposes:
We encourage attendees to dress appropriately for the weather.
Media representatives will be present, and you may be photographed. Please feel free to cover your face if you do not wish for your face to be shown.
We acknowledge that diverse opinions exist across the diaspora and among non-Iranian individuals. If anyone attempts to disrupt or hijack our rally, please refrain from any verbal or physical confrontation and inform the organizers. Toronto Police and campus security will address the situation safely.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that, regarding the recent protests in Iran, the UBC Persian Club has organized the following event
On the evening of Friday, January 9th, we will gather to honour the memory of all the lives lost in current Iran protests and share in the sadness of Iranians around the world.

As of December 28th, 2025, protests have erupted in Iran throughout several cities for various reasons, which has resulted in the violation of Iranian human rights by the regime. These human rights violations include, but are not limited to: shutting down of internet access, open fire on civilians, and attacks on hospitals. According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, there have been 41 confirmed deaths and 2,270 arrests as of 12:45pm on January 8th, 2026.

As the UBC Persian Club, we stand in solidarity with the people of Iran.

از ۲۸ دسامبر ۲۰۲۵، اعتراضات زیادی در چندین شهر ایران به دلایل مختلف رخ داده که منجر به نقض حقوق بشر توسط رژیم شده. این موارد نقض حقوق بشر شامل مواردی مثل: قطع دسترسی به اینترنت، تیراندازی به مردم غیرنظامی و غیرمسلح، و حمله به بیمارستان‌ها هست. طبق گزارش Human Rights Activists News Agency امریکا، ۴۱ مورد مرگ و ۲۲۷۰ مورد دستگیری‌ بر توسط رژیم تا ساعت ۱۲:۴۵ بعد از ظهر ۸ ژانویه ۲۰۲۶ تایید شده.

به عنوان انجمن دانشجویان یو بی سی، ما با مردم ایران اعلام همبستگی میکنیم.

In light of current events in Iran, we will be cancelling all UBCPC/Simorgh Bridge Foundation events and activities until further notice, including the PS752 Memorial that was scheduled for later today, January 8th. We will be working toward organizing other events that align more closely with the needs of our community at this time.

Despite the cancellation of tonight’s event, we want to acknowledge and extend our sympathies to the 176 victims of the PS752 flight crash, including Canadian-Iranians and members of the UBC community, and their loved ones.

با توجه به اتفاقاتی که در چند روز گذشته داخل ایران افتاده، ما تمام فعالیت‌های UBCPC/Simorgh Bridge Foundation را تا اطلاع ثانوی لغو خواهیم کرد، از جمله مراسم یادبود PS752 که قرار بود امروز، ۸ ژانویه برگزار شود. قصد داریم در روزهای پیش رو،‌‌ برنامه هایی در راستای اتقاقات جاری ایران برگذار کنیم.

On January 8th, 2020, the Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 crashed, taking the lives of 176 people, including 4 members of the UBC community. Hello UBCPC members,

As the term comes to an end, we are going to be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This meeting allows our members to give feedback on the administration of the club and vote on amendments to the constitution. Your feedback can help us improve the club to better meet your needs.

The AGM will be held ONLINE via zoom on December 27th at 10AM. Please check our instagram bio for the link to join. If you are a member, please check your email for the meeting link.

Please note that only members of the UBCPC are able to participate in AGM voting. In order to become a member, please check our instagram bio. Please not that this event will be held in English.

با نزدیک شدن به پایان ترم، ما مجمع عمومی سالانه (AGM) خود را برگزار خواهیم کرد. این جلسه به اعضای ما این امکان را می‌دهد که نظرات خود را درباره اداره‌ی انجمن بیان کنند و به اصلاحات در اساسنامه رای بدهند. نظرات شما می‌تواند به ما کمک کند تا انجمن را به شکلی بهتر و منطبق‌تر با نیازهای شما بهبود دهیم.

Get ready for Shabe Yalda! 🍉✨

Mark your calendars for December 21st, as we’ve prepared an unforgettable night to celebrate Yalda after finals season!

This year, we will begin by reciting poems from Hafez’s Divan. Throughout our event, we will also enjoy traditional Persian music performed by guest artists. After that, we’ll host a fun trivia game, followed by a full Persian dinner (which will be kabab, joojeh, and ash reshteh), and finally, we will end the night with dancing to welcome the upcoming holidays. And, of course, we will serve anar and other Yalda Night treats!
This event is open to everyone, and we would love to see you there.
