Saige Community Food Bank

Saige Community Food Bank Two-Spirit, Trans and Gender Diverse safe space food share open to all in need. An East Vancouver food share program that is a two fold, non profit.

We save items from going to landfills and re distribute them to those in need. Community Helping Community! ABOUT OUR PROJECT

The Saige Community Food Share is a food share that provides a safe space for Two-Spirit, Trans and Gender Diverse or q***r individuals to access healthy food, as well as support from their 2SLGBTQIA+ peers. This food share offers fresh produce and baked goods as well

as staple products. Our main sponsors are Van Whole Produce, Shoppers Drug Mart, Bread Affair, International Grocer's and Kiwassa Neighbourhood House. Many of the individuals we serve, do not have much interaction with others socially or physically, so our volunteers make the efforts to socialize with guests and make them feel welcomed. Our volunteers come from a wide range of community's with all the same intention of making sure everyone is able to receive healthy food options, with dignity, in a safe environment. WHY IT IS NEEDED

Two-Spirit, Transgender and Gender Diverse individuals are a high-risk group due to challenges regarding access to medical care, both gender-related and non-gender related. Their health is also challenged by higher levels of violence, lack of social support, difficulties obtaining employment and housing, in addition to mental health conditions and su***de, brought on by the stress of multiple experiences of discrimination. Even when they are able to gain employment, they tend to have a lower income on average than non-transgender individuals with similar education levels, due to lack of opportunities. WHERE and WHEN

Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the Month @ Kiwassa Neighbourhood House

* Low Barriers - no ID, proof of address or low income needed

Rest easy friend.
Thank you for your support from the very beginning when Saige was just starting out. You gave so much, to so many.
The world is not the same without you in it.
Your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew you and in the magical music you shared with us all.
Healing energy and prayers to your partner.
💙

The Indigenous Music Office is deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Cree composer and cellist, .

As someone working in Indigenous music and alongside so many artists trying to reshape this industry, Cris was one of those people who showed what was possible. Their work pushed boundaries in every direction while remaining deeply grounded in their identity, story, and unique sound.

They created space simply by being fully themselves as a Two-Spirit Indigenous artist and composer. Their impact on Indigenous music, artists, and the broader creative community will be felt for a very long time.

Thinking of everyone grieving this loss today.

Your voice matters in shaping a safer healthcare system. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

When healthcare-related harm happens, the B.C. Ministry of Health wants to ensure its review processes actually work for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. We know our community faces unique barriers like discrimination and a lack of cultural safety, and we want to change that.

QMUNITY and SAGAH are hosting 3 Community Engagement Workshops to hear directly from you. Your feedback will help inform real changes to provincial healthcare policy and practice.
