09/30/2026
On September 30, we will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
On this day, Ken Charko, on behalf of the Riley Park Hillcrest Community Association, acknowledges the importance of honouring the children who never came home, the survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry their stories.
This is also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation and our shared responsibility to listen, learn, and take meaningful action.
We encourage our community to wear orange in honour of Residential School Survivors and their families and to take time to deepen their understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and communities.
In recognition of this day, Hillcrest Community Centre will be closed on September 30. We will reopen on October 1 with regular hours for programs and facilities.
We respectfully acknowledge that Riley Park Hillcrest Community Association (RPHCA) is located on the unceded, traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
