Summer Closure Announcement 📢🌞

After a whirlwind summer of Solar Bee programming, tea parties and glorious garden gatherings, our little team is ready for a much-needed rest! U/P will be closed from August 24 - September 6.

The gallery and garden will be closed, and our team will be offline during this time. If you need to reach us please get in touch before August 24; we’ll be back in office on September 7. We look forward to seeing you on the other side with an exciting lineup of Fall programming.

Solar Bee Closing Reception + Film Screening Event

—Both events are free to attend, screening requires RSVP due to limited seating.

We are one week away from the closing of our summer exhibition Solar Bee Garden Tea Zen REMIX.

Join us on August 15 for a closing reception featuring a screening of Lam Wong’s Tea Zen (2016) feature-length film on its 10th anniversary, with new sound design by Peter Courtemanche. The film will be screened under the pergola in our garden. Find the RSVP link in our bio.

This Saturday, join T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss and Jaz Whitford in UNIT/PITT’s backyard garden as they serve Raven and Hummingbird iced herbal tea mixes, offering Sḵwx̱wú7mesh herbalist knowledge and storytelling backgrounded by Peter and Lam’s outdoor works.

Sound Performance + Tea Ceremony With Lam Wong, Peter Courtemanche (Absolute Value of Noise), T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss, & Anna Friz

Join us next Saturday, July 18, for a special, collaborative sound performance and tea ceremony in our garden.

Peter Courtemanche will be capturing ambient sounds and diffusing it through speakers across the garden, joined by Anna Friz on transmission and T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss layering modular synth from plants and mushrooms. Amidst it all, Lam Wong offers stillness through a Zen Buddhist tea ceremony.

FYI: c.a.f.f. will be taking a little hiatus over the summer months to make space for our upcoming exhibition Solar Bee Garden Tea Zen REMIX. If you haven’t had a chance to make it to a c.a.f.f. yet, we recommend making this the one!

Solar Bee Garden Tea Zen REMIX
Lam Wong & Peter Courtemanche (Absolute Value of Noise)
May 30 - August 15, 2026

Solar Bee Garden Tea Zen REMIX is a site-responsive, multi-media collaboration between longtime friends. Among their highly varied interests and distinct practices, Peter and Lam share a dedication to tea — its cultivation, preparation, offering, and ingestion — as a medium and contemplative methodology.

Moving between gallery and garden, the exhibition draws on ceremony, analogue audio/visual experimentation, and garden-centred practice as modes of relational and ecological inquiry. This marks Wong and Courtemanche’s first formal collaboration, a meeting of two very distinct artistic languages held together by philosophical kinship and the patient time and texture of the garden.

We are also pleased to announce that T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss & Senaqwila Wyss will be joining us to facilitate an iteration of their ReciprociTea project — more details to come.

A slate of special events will be also be scheduled over the summer, including Zen Buddhist tea ceremony, a film screening, an artist talk, and a special performance featuring sound artist Anna Friz.
